  1. I'v got the Browning 1911-22. I'v had it several years ,now. I USED to carry it as a back-up to my Kimber ultra carry. Had to put a sheep down, one cold winter night, Gun went "bloop" The only way I knew the slug had exited the bbl was to blow through the bbl. To dark to see. Thats the LAST time I carried it. A gun only gets ONE chance to let me down! Respectfully Terry
  2. If I'd have had a semi auto 308, I probably could have shot 15-18.
  3. I actually emptyed the mag from my Mauser 98 while culling pigs in californis a number of years ago. Not only that,,I reloaed , and shot 5 more rounds. Total.9 pigs for 10 shots. Respectfully Terry
  4. Not only that, but he pushed comulsory military service in order to "earn " the right to vote. Respectfully Terry
  5. Is the reciever drilled and taped for a scope? And, is the roating mag brass or aluminum? 300 Savage brass is easly made from std 7.62. trim, then fl resize. Respectfully Terry
  6. Your rifle earned a good rating. Subsiquent reviews by others should NOT reflect on your post. Respectfully Terry
  7. Got so bad, today the wife and I took a bunch of .22's to the indoor range. Even fired a few .45's and some 44 specials. All in all, not a bad day. Terry
  8. Thanks! Thats very helpfull to us that don;t have access to longer ranges to pracitce. Respectfully Terry
  9. Factory chambers are frequently reamed with two different reamers. The first one sets the body dia and taper, the second cuts the neck, throat, and sets the headspace. Looks to me like the second reamer, in this case, was slightly undersized. Probably less than half a thou. Thats why the "line" only goes half way around the brass. Reaming a chamber, correctly, is a subject that could take several THOUSAND words to describe, in detail!LOL!! Respectfully Terry
  10. Time to begin saving your old targets. In the future, they can help tell your progression, and give some hindsight as to what you are learning.. They have value! even if not to your liking now. I always start a new handgun two handed, from a rest. resting my hands, holding the gun, of the top of a sand bag. Then, squeeze off a shot. It will help you by telling you just how accurate your gun is, with that ammo. Then. you can adjust your sights, if needed. Three shots are enough to tell you how its grouping, and weather you need to adj the sights. Squeeze the trigger, and concentrate on the sights! Respectfully Terry
  11. Lay a ruler on the targets, then take the pics. We, or I rather, need a side by side comparison. Respectfully Terry
  12. Frankley, without any malice being ment, I can't tell a da** thing without a scale of some kind, telling me how big the targets are. Respectfully Terry
  13. When taking out a new pistol, I fire as many mags as needed from a front rest supporting my two hands. Once I'v got a good sight pic, and good trigger control, then I'll go to standing at 7-10 yards. Takes out a lot of human error, and gives the shooter more confidence in the new weapon. SIGHT PICTURE is EVERYTHING!!!! Sights may be crude to non-estance, trigger pull can be auwfull, breath control down the tubes, but if the sight pic ic correct when the gun goes off, you WILL hit the target, Respectfully Terry
  14. A thread on "how" to shoot long range would be very helpfull! Also, "reading" mirqge and that type of thing. I know that "I" have spent countless hours, hundreds or rounds, and thousands of dollars trying to re=invent thee wheel, as it were. A little help would be greatly appreachated! Respectfully Terry
  15. Most leo's don't get much trigger time! Some don't even qualify more than once a year! Takes a LOT to make it to Swat, or simmilar! Respectfully Terry
  16. Much better than my version!   Terry
  17. I'v been buying up any and all 30 cal 125's that I can find! Personally, never seen Blackout ammo on the shelf! Respectfully Terry
  18. Thanks Terry
  19. Got a 7.62X40 wilson. shoots great! A little longer than the Blackout, but more powder means more velocity! Respectfully Terry
  20. Typicaly, reaming will remove more metal than honing, except A LOT of honing. And then, your honing might not be to the specs of the chamber taper, etc. The finish reamer specs the WHOLE chamber. As I stated, in my paticular case, metal was removed from the entire BODY of the case, but did not touch the shoulder, neck or throat. In another case, it MIGHT remove metal from the neck, or throat. Respectfully Terry
  21. Ya, I'v got all the books. Just hoping someone had a real tack driver load. Thanks Terry
  22. How much 4064 are you using with the 168's???? Thanks Terry
  23. Sorry to be a broken tape deck.....But that frosted "belt" around the case says, to me, as a full time gunsmith, that you have a tight chamber. A 'smith shouldn't charge you over $20 bucks to check the headspace, unless he has a mim charge, and taking the bbl off, running a reamer in, and polishing the chamber shouldn't cost over a bill($100) for everything. Setting excessive can be a real pain in the A$$.. Unless you have access to a LARGE number of bolts, and the excessive headspace is not to great. If your going to be in this game, as go and no-go set of gagues is a cheap investment. Let me know, and i'll give you a run down on how to use them. Respectfully Terry
  24. I'd run a finish reamer in by hand. Respectfully Terry
  25. My DPMS bbl had a "tight" chamber. on a whim, I ran my finish reamer in, and removed metal the full length of the case body! nothing on the shoulder, neck, or lead. Just the case body. Would have played heck wit the case releasing from the chamber! Respectfully Terry
