My wife bought one, she said it felt good. Went to the range and shot it. She sold it to a friend! I really feel for you guys that have to hide your new guns! In our house, my wife probably buys two to my one......LOl!!! So, my wife and I stumbled into the LGS and found a '60;s vintage Colt Commander! In 9mm, no less!$450 bucks!!! Bought it on the spot! Now, its my wifes second favorite conceled carry gun. Right next to her Kimber solo.LOL! Now I have to find a vintage colt 38 super, to round things out. Respectfully Terry PS. My wife is busy planing the changes she wants on the Commander. So far she's got sights, trigger job, extened slide stop, and a beavertail safty.. I'm waiting to start untill she finishes her list.LOL! Edited to fit forum requierments.

What do you mean it "passed" on both the go and no go gauges? Does that mean that the bolt "closed" on the go gague, and DID NOT close on the no-go? Did you strip the bolt of both the extractor and ejector? Respectfully Terry Again, I ask these questions with respect. I don't know your level of gunsmithing experience. -
I haven't read all the posts in this thread. But I do live in Colorado. Sure, we managed to vote out two of the three we tried to recall. But we lost on the one from Durango. WHY????? Because of infighiting amongst ourselvs!!!!!!! For those of you who don't understand Colorado Politics, we are basicly two states. The "front range" and the "western slope". The front range had two politicans they wanter out, the slope had one. When the recalls started , the front range and the western slope tried to get together. Both wanted to be in charge. as they couldn't agree, the state was split, politically in two. The slope lost the recall by 1,100 voted. "only" 1,100 votes!!!!! Why? because we couldn't manage to agree to let the better orginised front range have something to say about how to do things. WIN????? Partiachally only! If we don't, somehow, manage to work together, we will surly hang seperatly. Respectfully Terry

When I used to weigh all my match loads, I held my brass to .5 grains, and found that a difference of 2 grains to be a HUGE difference with the bullets I was then using. Most bullets, at the time, were Speer or Sierra's, and were held withen a tenth, in a typical box of 100. I''v been using Hornady AMax 6.5 140's in my 260 Rem AR, and it groups near an inch,or under ,most of the time. I'll try to get some shots of some groups i'v got, and post them tomorrow. Should Gunmakers Leave?
Tripledeuce replied to planeflyer21's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Many gunmakers sign long term leases on land and buildings. It would bankrupt many to try and move. While I don't personally like it, as a business man I can understand the economics. Respectfully Terry -
I figgured it out a few years ago, when we had "the last shortage". By the time I bought the dies, casings ( other than .22) lead and what not, I was better off saving my money, and buying bulk when the re-supply was back. It takes a LOT of bullets to pay for those dies! And bigger press, if you need one! Respectfully Terry

My Dad started my brothers and I on a Daisy BB gun at 6 or 7. Showed up how "dangerous" it could be by hitting some small bottles of nail polish, I think. That explosion of liquid really brought out the "never point a gun at anything you don't want to destroy"> Back i the 70's and 80's when handgun metallic sillouete was popular, we had everything from toddlers in diapers, to 8-10 year olds at the range. Youngest kid to shoot the 22 matches was 10 or 12. My daughter started shooting small bore, indoor 22 at 10. Respectfully Terry

I'm not sure that I'd want "our Leader" to be "the hunted".???? I'v endured enough pain in my life. Respectfully Terry

People reading my post seem to have missed my real point. Open or concieled, the real problem, to me, seems to be the uneducatd LEO's who respond to the call. In the end, it all depends on how the LEO responds to the call, not how the law is written. I know not ALL LEO's are this way. My younger brother was a Seargent on a Calif police force, my uncle was a Deputy on a Sheriffs department. Another "Uncle" ( cousin, seemed more like an uncle) was another Seargent on a different police force. Interpertation of the law is the killer. Is the LEO in a "good" mood? Has he just had an argument with his wife? Did his seargent just chew him out over something? The " lets just take him in and let the upperechelon take care of it is all to easy for the leo on the sciene. I'm just say'n, if the guy on the ground wants to make something of it, He can, and sometimes ( to many times) will. Respectfully Terry

Texas is a LONG way from California, too. Respectfully Terry

In the end, the law dosen't matter. It all depends on whats IN the mind of the LEO who approaches you. If he is going to "wright you up", he WILL find something to charge you with. I know, because it happened to me. I now have a felony conviction that will follow me for life. The "funny" part? After $20,000 for a lawyer, and having the charges dismissed, I was able to get not only a ffl, but a CCW FROM THE STATE of California. Came from the same Sheriffs department that had arrested me. Yea, I still carry, but ONLY conceled! The fewer LEO'S that know I carry, the better!!!!!!! Respectfully Terry And, Blue, very respectfully, lifting your shirt COULD be construed as "brandishing" the firearm. After my arrest, I paid my attourny a lot of money to educate me in the neuances of the firearms law.. T

In the end, I'll probably make the full line of 308 based uppers. I don't care for the 243, so I'll go to the 25 souper, I'v got the 260, then 7mm08, 308, and the 338-o8. Might even do the 6.5 creedmore.. Respectfully Terry

Springfirlds 'o3's under serial 800,000 are potentially unsafe. Rock Island with recievers under 290,000 are also un-safe. Heat treating problems. National ordinance is a "new mfg" from the 1980's. Put together with mil surplus parts, except the recever, which is "new mfg". I wouldn't pay over 300$ for any Nat. Ord. made. Even in mint shape. Respectfully Terry

I'm very happy with the 260 rem I built, and am in the process of building a 338 Federal for my wife. Respectfully Terry

To me, It sounds like you have a varity of "batches" of mixed bulletts. If they all weigh the same, then the varation can only come from different set ups of the forming dies. Back when Sierra bullets were in So. Cal. I used to go down and buy "seconds" by the pound. Found one batch of .277 bullets that varied from 130 grain to 140 grain. Since I had 20 pounds of them, I sorted then by weight. Made a big difference! Respectfully Terry

I'm almost willing to bet that withen 5-10 rounds, everything will work out fine. There are just sooooo many other things that could cause problems, this, to me. is a non starter.LOL!! Respectfully Terry

How about good old fasioned hanging, for treason? Terry -
Many times a customer will have me headspace a new, custom gun to a specific lot of brass . almost always, the go gague will show a VERY tite fit. Respectfully Terry

Just leave it! It will wear in in a VERY short time! Respectfully Terry

What brand is the new bbl? Respectfully Terry

What cal is that Mod70??? Respectfully Terry
-
To me, a name has to be earned. Most of mine are refered to by cal. as I have few duplicate rifles. That dosen't help with the AR's, as my wife and I have several of the same cals, as well as several in different cals. I guess that you could say that the only gun in my safe that is named is "my old 1911". Close as I can get to a name. Bought her new in 1973, and carried her daily for 20+years. Naming inanimate objects seems a little wierd ,to me. What would you name your toaster? or alarm clock? My wife just reminded me that she has ONE rifle with a name! Her Browning lo-wall 22 hornet is called "Thick and Chunky" because thats all it leaves of prarrie dogs!LOL!! Respectfully Terry
