The hornadys , and dillons are popular with the spray and pray shooters.......... Respectfully Terry

I'v used most all the presses on the market. Have a Star for precision pistol loads, a Dillon 650 for large "batches" of ammo, but still stick with the RCBS Big Max and Rockchucker for precision rifle loads. Respectfully Terry

I like the Barnes,,,,,but cleaning is a bitch! Respectfully Terry

I want to build a couple of 22LR uppers this year. A friend hunts prarrie dogs with 17, dosen't leave much behind. Standard velocity LR's tear up almost no meat, and leave a clean kill. Respectfully Terry

I'll tell you, this thing is SWEET!!!! Just had it to the range, and ran a varity of ammo through it. No malfunctions at all! Seems to like stingers! Fits rite in the top of my boot just fine!!! A nice alternatitive to my Browning 1911-22 or my Kimber Ultra carry. 90%of the time, I carry the ultra carry, .45, just go to the smaller guns for a change up.LOL. Respectfully Terry

Gun show is in town - shopping for used sidearm
Tripledeuce replied to gnatshooter's topic in Handguns
When I used to own the retail gunshop, I LOVED the gun show come to town!!!!! I'd be busy repairing firearms for at least two weeks after it was over. Personally, with the market being what it is,ie, used costing almost or over retail I'd not buy a used pistol on a bet! Unless I personally knew the seller, and the gun had some kind of warranty, IN WRITING! Respectfully Terry -
Well, Thanks for all the prayrs and good wishes! They seemed to do the trick. I'm out of the hospital, and home!! feeling better than I have in a long time. The surgen talked me into a bovine valve, so I told him I wanted a valve from a Spanish Fighting bull,,,,,,No milk cows need apply!LOL!!! Not to seem dramatic, but the Dr. said In was lucky to be alive. Valve ( Artural, main channel for blood to the body) was torn, and had a flap flapping in the breeze, also two holes in the valve. Dr. fixed things, and I spent the next three days recovering. Friday, the Dr.'s assastint cam in and asked how I was feeling, I said Great! Can I et out of here today? So, she looks at my chest, pushes and prods, looks at my chart, and says, I don't see why not. So! I have surgery on Tuesday, and walk out of the hospital on Friday!!!! Wife asks, " want to go to the Gun Show, tommorow? Do I have the best wife in the world or what!!!!!LOL!! Thanks for the offer of the tickets, Edge, but the game might have been a little much for me.LOL!! So, I'm home , safe withen the body of family, and I wanted to say thanks! Later Terry

I was at a gunshow in Denver last weekend. About noon. they started playing the Stat Spangled Banner. Huge American Flags on all 4 walls. Withen seconds, every manJack in the room was standing, and saluting the flag. Everyone except 2 guys that shuffled thier feet, and one guy who kept his hat on. They were seen rapidly leaving the room as several bikers" approached them!LOL!! Thank god for the men and weomen who make up our armed forces!!! Respectfully Terry

Colt 1911, hasen't been "up-dated" since 1927. To my knowledge, has never had a recall. Respectfully Terry

All "standard" cartridge dies are supposed to be made to SAAMI ( Sporting Armes and ammunition manafactures intisitute) specs. Please , again, forgive the spelling. As someone stated befor, shell holders can affect the placement of the shoulder suggifinactly! Hollywood Gunshop has changed hands several times in the last 30 years, and haven;t made dies or presses for years, in some cases, decades! Send the Hornady back! They should make them right, unless someone has been grinding on them. Respectfully Terry

Brand New LAR8EO - Ripped Rim Off First Round Fired
Tripledeuce replied to GS455's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
Your chamber is ROUGH!!!!! All the shooting in the world won't help! or, will help a little, but polishing is the correct way to do it. Just polish the chamber! Or have your gunsmith polish it. Taking the bbl off takes more time than the actual polishing. I'v done many hundreds of these. plus, I polish every bbl that I chamber. Only had a ctg stick once, when I forgot to polish the chamber. I got inturpted in the chambering process. Respectfully Terry -
Lin-speed and tru-oil are almost the same. Both have hardners. Nither wwill "bleed" in hot weather. Respectfully Terry

Nothing penitrates far. Our tests use many bases and Thinners. We even tried DMSO as a thinner. Genuine Spar varnish and paint thinner penetrated the best. All finishes were tested on 2"X2" blocks of stock walnut. Then cut in half to judge penetration. No finish really seeps "deep" into the wood. The most a stock finisher can do is fill the pores of the wood, and give the impression of "deapth". A matt or semi gloss is easy to do with a little work with some rotten stone and ATF on a piece of felt. Respectfully Terry

OK, I could wright a book on stock finishes.LOL! Tung oil, boiled linseed oil, and danish are all gun stock finishes from the early 1900's. Boiled linseed oil never hardens. on a hot day, it willl ooz to the surface. There are a number of people allergic to tung oil. After many weeks of testing, my bench 'smith and I decided that "the Best" finish was tru-oil, over a "genunine" spar varnish base. Dilute the Spar varnish 50-50 with paint thinner. Keep brushing it on the stock , as much as it will take to keep the surface "shinny" for half an houe. then let it set for two weeks. Sand with 240 wet or dry paper, small surfaces at a time, used wet, wipe with a paper towel as soon as finished on the small surface. By small surface, I mean like one side of the buttstock at a time, or one side of the forarm a time. Let dry for 3-4 days. Next, coat the stock with as much tru-oil as it will take, rub untill you feel the heat build up on your hand. Let it set for two weeks. Sand with wet or dry, used wet, 400 grit. let set for 3-4 days. You should not sand hard enough to sand through the oil finish! Its normal, art this point to have small "pinholes" show in the finish. These are the pours in the wood, that will fill with additional coats of oil. Or, you could just slap a coat of tru-oil on it , or spray it with a plastic finish and be done with it. Depends on what you want. Respectfully Terry

Its got the M-2 round bolt, and the "later" issue rear sight. Nice carbine! Respectfully Terry

So, my wife has decided she likes the 9mm better than the 45. So she's been busy firing every 9mm she can find. I trust the 1911 system. After 50 years( of my own personall shooting) its never let me down. After long thought, I decide I want to find a 9mm Colt Commander for her, and a Browning HiPower later. Talk about scarce!!!! 20 years owing a retail shop, and 40 years in retail guns, I'v only held a hand full of Commanders in 9mm. So, a couple of weeks ago, my wife and I stumble into the LGS, and there, in the showcase is a Genuine Colt Commander, in 9mm!!!!! Look at the price tag. $450. What? $450 ? Its worth at least a grand!!!! Almost break my arm, getting my wallett out! Do all the paperwork, and stop by our outdoor range, on the way home. Wife grabs a box of 9mm from under the back seat ( yes, we keep 45. 9mm,38, and 22's in the truck at all times) Loads her up, and squeezes off five quick rounds into the center mass, and 5 rounds into the X-ring in the head! This one's a real keeper! Now my wifes busy making a list of things she wants done to "her" Commander!LOL!! Respectfully Terry
