Ultralite my azz! Webpage says 3.4 oz. I just weighed a plain old milspec grip (super cheap) and a Magpul MOE K2 ($21) and they both weighed 3 oz. even! That's a $99 boat anchor! And I think it's ugly too!

I don't know what you deem as necessary on a 'combat ready' 1911 but by my standards of a combat ready 1911 I can build one in the range of $1000-$1200 that I would trust my life on in any conditions! It's just not that expensive to build a really dependable 1911. Bill Wilson, Ed Brown, Les Baer, you're paying an extra $1000 or more just for the privilege of having their name on the slide, plain and simple! It's a status thing that I don't buy into.

Chonkie, just so you know, if you want to take the brake off later and use the black shims the way to get that Rocksett to release is to soak it in water for 24 hours. Rocksett is a ceramic and heat won't make it release! That is one badass looking handguard/muzzle brake combo!

What 98 said! The PSA uppers seem to place the BCG just a bit lower than all the others out there and it is just enough that it causes problems with builds using other manufacturers lowers. Like 98 said, get you an Aero upper and solve the problem. You can always set the PSA upper to the side and get a PSA lower later on and build yourself a second 308! Wouldn't be the first time somebody around here started a second build just because they had a spare part lying on the bench!

I've got two junk guns I've been sitting on, waiting for a butback to pop up in my area. One is an old 38 S&W revolver that I'd be scared to shoot because the timing is so bad and the other is an old .22 bolt action rifle that has a stuck bolt. Both were left to me by an old guy that my wife and I took care of during his last years.

Yup, heat is used to release Loctite so it's not a good choice for a muzzle device. Rocksett is a ceramic and is not affected by heat.
