  1. Curious of what your thought are on the accuracy comparison if the 62gr. is the penetrator bullet? Recently heard Ryan Cleckner bragg up the 55 gr. Hornady spire point as one of the most accurate 5.56 bullets he shoots and one of the cheapest. Never loaded for 5.56 myself but years ago I had a 22-250 that loved those 55 gr. spire points. Sorry, don't mean to jack your thread but your question jarred loose some errant thoughts
  2. ^Exactly the reason the founding fathers gave for including the 2nd!

  4. I have a 16 inch rifle gas 308 that I run suppressed. SLR gas block, standard carbine buffer with a Tubbs spring. Runs fine with or without the suppressor with the same gas setting. I could turn it down a bit for suppressor use but don't since it doesn't seem to harsh. I run my AR-10 20 inch rifle with a suppressor, only change from factory is a Slash heavy buffer. Run a Sig P716 suppressed, runs like crap with or without no matter what the setting, came from the factory with a flat wire spring, problem child from day one.
  5. No help, a suppressor would add some back pressure but doubt there are any brakes that would enough to matter. Best to try one change at a time when it comes to springs, adjustable gas, and buffer weights.
  6. It's not an SBR but I did a low mass build that has been a very sweet shooter and reliable once I got the bugs out. The brass will fall just a few feet away like you describe. I shoot it with the SDN-6 all the time, super soft. I may change the spring out for the Tubbs reduced power version, I have one in a 300 BO build and like how it works in this build when I swapped them around.
  7. I'll take the drinking part any day over the enema, shoved so much barium in me I thought it would start coming out my ears!
  8. You are an inspiration Sir!

  13. I run a 16 inch rifle gas barrel with a carbine extension. No issues but I had to open the gas port up on my X-Caliber barrel, it was way undersized from the factory. Criterion sells 16 and 18 inch rifle gas barrels, I built around the 18 inch and had no issues. As long as the gas port is proper size you will not have an issue. If the gas port is undersized you will have an issue with whatever size extension you use.

  17. And Brownells is running a sale on matching handguards for $5.99 plus you can get a matching grip there for $6.99! There are still some matching magpul furniture sets out there as well. https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/forend-amp-handguard-parts/handguards-amp-rails/ar-15-atacs-glacier-car-handguard-sku231300021-77883-162755.aspx https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/grip-parts/pistol-grips/ar-15-a2-atacs-pistol-grip-sku231300029-77885-162763.aspx Maybe I won't cerakote both sets.........
  18. JSE has a pile of these sets for $99 each, only cost me $8 for shipping on two sets. Reads like they have finish blems but I plan on Cerakote anyway. Hard to find a set cheaper. https://02b5f6c.netsolstores.com/dpmsar15strippedupperloweratacscamoset.aspx UPDATE; DON'T BUY, see below.
  19. How would this work? Are they serialized? Can this proposed rule be used to describe other devices? This is a big can of worms if they actually open it. I keep hoping they will hit a roadblock and tell people they gave it a try, kinda like they did for the "Contract with America". It would be nice if a political weasel move went in our favor once........
  20. I don't like it for one reason, the federal government is involved! How often does the federal government make a situation better? I think this should be a state issue, they are closer to the people and this would be closer to the original intent of the founding fathers. If a person does not like the level of crazy their state allows in weapons ownership then move or get it changed! The role of the federal government is to insure our 2A rights are not infringed on by the states. History has shown over and over, the closer to the people government is the better it is. Ideally I would want my county supervisors to decide if I am crazy, I have known them for years and they know me. What I know of federal agencies gives me no confidence they could fairly manage these issues. The federal government is the crazy one in the room! A note on living with the NFA and GCA, if one accepts the idea that because it was law before we were born we have to live with it then there would still be slavery in this country. It is a defeatist attitude that will do nothing but lead to further restrictions as they pick off our rights an inch at a time. REPEAL THE NFA!
  21. Yep, they are dead to me. The people having military grade weapons was the intent of the framers, these people have no clue.

  23. Options for the board; https://welikeshooting.com/blog/we-like-shooting-endorses-sean-maloney-for-the-nra-board/ Check out how some of the board members see this petition push going on in the membership, and vote for Adam; http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2018/01/luis-valdes/nra-2018-board-candidate-adam-kraut-marion-hammer-not-enemy-firearms-freedom/ Here is a good source of info on many of the individuals running: https://www.ammoland.com/tags/nra-board-elections/#axzz59J3wi6Ud Check out the board members attendance records, I love Ted Nugent and Tom Selleck but obviously they are not serious about being on the board, a 0 attendance of meetings for both over the last 8 meetings; http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/11/luis-valdes/nra-membership-petition-to-reform-the-board-of-directors/
  24. Love my Kestrel, haven't used it much past 300 for shooting but use it regularly to document environmental conditions for work. Kinda wish I had a blue tooth model but I got it cheap. LaRue had cases for them on sale not long ago, soft case but has stiffeners where needed to protect it.
