  1. Suggestion: Skip your morning coffee, coke, or Mountain Dew. Caffeine is my biggest obstacle to good groups.
  2. Man, you are a bad influence! I went on CDNN and picked up an M1A loaded with the stainless NM barrel. Can't wait for it to arrive! Sportsman's Guide has a pretty good deal on a three pack of M1A  20 round mags for $35.

  3. Yeah that show was 90% BS with a few explosions thrown in for good measure.
  4. Finished the 120 7.62. Eased back on the load a bit, want to see how it groups. 39.6 gr RL15 behind 175 gr Sierra BTHP. M-80 Brass. 44 Mag reloads shoot well. Close to Hornady factory load power.
  5. Glad you made it ok.
  6. 'scuse me, I gotta go rent me a moving van to move all my stuff to the mountains so I can live unobtrusively off the land. Any body got an extra 12,000 5.56?
  7. I use a lot of Perfecta in my pistols because it is a heck of a price at Wally World, and nice brass for reloading. It is ok ammo as far as I am concerned. See if you can borrow a scope to try to rule out that it is anything in the rifle. Then you will know if the scope or the rifle is the problem. A 100 yard shot with a S and W .40 is darn good. Doubt I could do it with a semi auto. My S and W N frames would be another story.
  8. I assume you put a brush down the bore since you used the Russian crap. That stuff is dirty! I have an old 7.62x39 and that is the only thing that gets steel cased ammo. Guessing something is loose. Hopefully not in the optic. Can always slap the red dot back on and send some down range to rule out if it is the rifle itself, but I doubt it is. What ammo were you using when you fired those groups in the picture? Are you changing ammo brands or bullet sizes?
  9. Shepp, don't want to put it on the Forum but I went back and ordered an M1A from CDNN with a National Match Stainless Barrel, National Match sights, and a walnut stock. Always have wanted one of those. Almost bought one instead of my AR10's. Mags are cheap, $13 each.

That is great news. I look torward to hearing about the improvements when you get it back.

Excellent point. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And I am not above it. That is all I am gonna say.
  13. Welcome from the other end of Wisconsin from Shepp.
  14. Welcome from Wisconsin. Taken BC rail out of North Vancouver to Whistler/Blackcomb a couple of times for skiing. Great Town Vancouver, and I generally don't like cities. Always enjoy Granville Market. Envy you your crab and salmon. Is "A kettle of Fish" still open? Had a great meal there long ago. Sounds tougher on handguns and maybe a shade easier on long guns, from what I understand. You guys can get the Norinco M 14 clones, can't you? Those have a good reputation for the price.
  15. As a precaution, pick up some desiccant packs to slip into the 50 Cal. cans.

That is a beautiful rifle. Always think of that rifle as a "defender of the free world". Must be some leftover memories from my fascination with them as a kid in the 1950's.
  17. What is gnarly is how Komodo Dragons kill larger prey. Their bite is not venomous, but they have incredibly high amounts of pathogenic bacteria in their mouth. They lay in ambush, and bite the animal. Then they follow it until it dies of an overwhelming bacterial infection two or three days later. Then, chow time!

Definitely leather. That fine rifle screams "leather".

Thought about grabbing this for myself before I posted, but I have enough. https://www.cdnnsports.com/springfield-armory-loaded-m1a-308-national-match.html?___SID=U
  21. We may have to do that.
  22. Don't forget sturgeon spearing!
  23. Resurrected this thread from the grave. Just loaded up 170 .44 Mag with 22.9 gr of H110 and Hornady xtp 240 gr hollowpoints. Next up, 120 7.62x51.
  24. someone finally nailed it. First time I have seen this. A classic. Now excuse me while I go play with my Armalite "B" Gen 2 magazines. And no, you can't have them, they are mine. I don't care.

The 600 rounds of 30-06 I have loaded up is in once fired National Match brass that was a gift from a General in ordnance to my Dad who was supervising Engineer of a weapons project back in the 1960's. They just showed up on our doorstep one day with a return address of Picitiny Arsenal, New Jersey. Great brass. I still save them, but I don't think I will ever need to load more.
