  1. Glad to see te girls dressed in comfortable clothes for a day/night at the range. Somebody cut old man Novetske's Viagra dose, please! I have never seen cellulite wobble from a gun's recoil before.
  2. Welcome Charlie! Armalites rock! No doubt.

  4. Have you checked any of the S and W Forums to see if this is at all common with their 1911's?
  5. had that happen with some 5.56 I had loaded by a "trusted" person.yes, yes, I violated the cardinal rule of " if you didn't reload it yourself, don't shoot it" fortunately both me and the rifle survived, but it shook the hell out of me. Follow survivalshop's suggestion, and see if they seat properly and evenly. If not, there is either uneven material under the primer, or uneven pressure being exerted to seat it.
  6. Have tried that membrane, it works well, if a bit pricey. But the real Question, R to the Second power, is how are you going to incorporate this project into your next mission write up?
  7. Nice job Shepp. Looks like something you would buy at Cabela's. Camo'ed a canoe once, don't know if I would have the artistry for a shotgun.
  8. Until the neat freaks showed up, I was going to say I had found kindred spirits. Gotta go take a picture of mine.
  9. I will take a picture of mine later. It is 24" x 24" and 45 years old. I have my second set of reloading gear on it. First set I put on it in 1977. I keep on intending to get a bigger one, but not yet.

    Debate

Good stuff M55. What he says about AK's wearing out quicker makes sense. Modular construction like on an AR lets you replace worn out stuff easier. With an AK you don't necessairily have that luxury, plus the AK directs more stress to the frame without buffering. Also interesting what he says about pistons systems. Guess there is a reason the HK 416 has a Special operations following. And develop a close personal relationship with your lubricant. Yes I am still talking about firearms.

    Debate

Nice write up Pat. I have an AK and used to have an AR180, both designed from the ground up to be piston rifles. Both were/are incredibly reliable, but really no more than my four AR's. To make a case for piston versus DI would take a useage level and intensity far higher then what I put my weapons through. Plus any time a system is modified to operate in a manner considerably different then its original design, unexpected consequences happen, like carrier tilt. Ask any ordnance engineer. I had an immediate family member who was one, and he made a career out of rectifying those things.Just my uneducated thoughts on the subject.

My apologies. The price is on the hoof, but includes butchering and wrapping. Which is still a good deal.

I'm always late to the party it seems. Oh, you said Disco!
  14. Nice report Unforgiven. I am sure that fellow appreciated a gentleman being around to help him out. Thumbs up! Look forward to more reports as you work on it.

Until I see furthur good evidence, I am filing that video under "El Toro poo poo".
  18. I have a nest 200 feet away from my house. They are noisy but interesting neighbors. The chicks are noisy, but not the adults. The chicks are always calling for food. Fun to watch them teach the young how to survive.

Great stuff too, don't know how they do it. This year its going to be a little more, but I haven't bought beef in a store for 14 years. Used to get a whole cow, but that was too much, ended up giving a bunch to food shelves. Always have them cut the steaks 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches thick, evn the round steak. So tender that you don't need to pound the round steak.
  20. Its back to normal now. Don't know what happened.

get his book, "Franklin Barbeque: A meat smoking manifesto" It is good. Below dinner tonight. Two bone in ribeyes from our half a cow we bought this year for $2.40 a pound butchered and wrapped. Rubbed with fresh garlic, basted with salmuera(salt water) for a salty crust. None left by the way.
  23. Somehow, Magwa and I ended up with the same avatar. I don't think he changed his on purpose and I know I didn't change mine. Have no clue how that happened unless of course you guys are having some fun........?
  24. Magwa I don't know how this happened, but somehow you ended up with my avatar.

Glad you like your Glock GG. I am not ruling out getting one someday. I have two polymer frame pistols now and find the biggest adjustment is the trigger, believe it or not. The polymer frame causes a different feel to the trigger for some reason. The Glock I would purchase would be the long slide in 10mm. That has become the popular gun to carry in Alaska if you don't want to lug a 454 Casul around in the brush. I am holding off getting a 10 mm because I know I would like it too much, then new pistol, new ammo, new reloading dies, other pistols become safe queens, etc.. Gonna enjoy the FNX for a while and decide what gets sold to make room for something else.
