Anyone have negative vibes about a Lee Challenge Kit? I used a Herters/RCBS setup in the long ago. How long ago since there has been a Herters super dupper, superior, magnificent, reloader sold?

Several times I have posted about M1Garands and more lately on my new M1A NM that I have finally bought(I had a $2400 windfall that was a surprise. As a result I started feeling like I was injecting too much about the M1A, here on the 308ar.com site. That feeling made me play the devils advocate when Sisco suggested starting a new Garand-M14-M1A forum for the site. I was negatively positioned in my posting, and do regret that action. My wife's brother that lived in a condo in Denver died in Dec. 2014 and we had to go up there to probate his will. We found that you have to hire Colorado lawyers to probate the will and pay all the fees and taxes, it was a pain in the butt. Every bus stop around the area was blue with crappy looking folks smokeing weed. There was a Neighborhood Walmart within a block and I went in and bought some groceries. noticed a short line and got in line, then I noticed it was for Muslins, Muslin lady in full garb (face was visable) tending the checkout. I stayed inline and emptied my basket with a package of Oscar Mayer honey Deli ham. She was a local Caucasian married to a Arab. I asked for paper , she said "We only have plastic sir, are you from Texas I said "yep!" she was really nice, "I said thank you miss." My brother in law was gay and he loved Denver, he worked for Charles Swabb. My wife sold the Condo. and we gave away all of his T.Vs and stereo and computers to his friends and neighbors. The condo sold the second day it was listed. Denver is really a good place to SELL! We said Thanks folks and au-di-oce! We used to camp and hunt in Colorado back in the 70s and 80s but it is a lot different now. Colorado was in my Territory to work back in the 1990s and it was okay back then, but not now for me.

As cheap as they are get a new one and then try welding on the old one. I recommend using some nickle steel rod from Brownells and Oxy Acc torch or try a Tig wire welder if you do welding, otherwise throw it away.

Well I didn't order somethin as cool looking as what Cunuckgaucho did. I ordered 120 rounds of Federal 168 gn OTM. Palmetto S.A. has them 20 rounds for 17.99. I like 168 grain OTM for the M1A. I have a few 147 gn for the DPMS 308.

Yep, I just try to remember what the purpose is for doing boresighting. Learned it by doing 105 and 175 howitzer. Nothing really can replace the live fireing sight in. Maybe there is a computer program or simulator but not for me.

You know I got really content using the single ram press I would set up a hundred cases do one operation on the hundred go to the next step and so on and before you know it, I had a hundred rounds loaded. Worked well working up a favorite load. I would load 10 rounds weighing each load load thirty rounds same stuff in ten rounds. And go to the range the next day.

With a LR308 and a new M1A 308 I am thinking about getting back into reloading. I sold my old Herters equipment years ago. I did upgrade to a RCBS rockchucker press and scale. I have been thinking about a Lee turret press and kit. But don't know how much better a turret is than a single. What do you all think? Turret or single for.308s in semi auto?

At 25 yards that should be close enough to win a cigar. That is long range for me with a semi-automatic pistol. I shot a couple of metallic silhouette matches with my 1911 .45 when my Super Blackhawk was out of action. I actually hit two rams (100 yds) out of 10 shots. One fell.

Probably just get a harbour freight cordless drill, less than $20.

There are a couple of dumb tricks I have used with these lasers but they are so Texas goofy I am ashamed to post on a prestigious site as this so send them to me and I won't tell anyone where they came from. They should be worth a $20 green back if they are sent snail mail.

No, on using the irons with the Low Picatinny mounted. Yes, with the High Picatinny mount. However the scope and mount can be quickly be unmounted and remounted with zero holding within one MOA. with the single screw using the unique supplied tourque wrench and action.

RFD mailman brought my 4x18 308 BDC scope and rings form Midway also.a package from Bassett machine company in Dripping Springs Texas with a new low Picatinny mount for the M1A NM rifle. It all goes on tomorrow and to be boresighted at 50yds with the lazer. Maybe I'll get some pictures this time. Usually a camera near me is not a good thing settings up a new project.

I have posted about my long time love of the Garand M1 and M14/M1A rifles. However as a new (2014) 308LR rifle owner, I have acquired a new respected and love object. I say keep this site like it is we don't need a new section for M1/M14/M1A platform rifles. If you love those rifles more than AR10s and 308ARs leave here and go over to the Darkside. You decide. I will stay.
