  1. Good find, brother - those Chinese bastards did this awhile ago with EOTech red dots - and EOTech had to put out a similar letter, with pics of fakes. That was about 5 years-ish ago now.
  2. That scope is pretty badass for a Grendel, if you want to max out at 600. It's a BDC scope with ACSS reticle, with zero instructions to set it 0.75" high at 100, and the BDC lines up for Grendel. So far, that is true, to 500. I need to work out another target to 600 and test it (probably from camp-site towards the north, along the ridge - and get it right at 600). Just checked the new online-manual for it, and they're changed it a little - I might need to re-zero this. I'm 2475fps out of a 16" barrel on my handloads, and they want a 200-yard zero for 2500fps for this scope. I'll play with that alot more, now that the weather is cooler. ALOT more. Here's the reticle. I'd love to get that 800-yard hashmark ON... I have a plan, brother - It's on at 500 now, with the hash mark for 500 - it hits the IPSC steel. I'll just paint up an IPSC target all white, drop it at 500, with a 5x5" black line around that all white target center - I'll just zero the gun at 500 - then see what it's shooting at 100. That's my dope on it.
  3. WIDE OPEN your gas block, man. Don't change it again until your gun runs right. Sort the other problems, first. You complicated shiit with complicated shiit, and it's complicating the issue with solving what's wrong with your gun... WIDE OPEN that gas block, and leave it like that until everything else is sorted out. You WANT max gas flow right now. All of it that's available.
  4. Need more gun details. Don't suspect the 2A upper and lower right away, at all. Don't suspect the Faxon barrel right away, at all. List all your other parts, in specific, every single part you used for the recoil system. All of it. Receiver extension brand, type, internal depth down the tube - buffer length and weight. Spring relaxed length, coil count, brand and type. You run an adjustable gas block wide open when you get it, and you only adjust down. Wide Open. All the way. Otherwise, you'll never know if your gas port in the barrel is even large enough for what you need. Get rid of the MagTech ammo, and any other cheap ammo that you have. Stick it in a box, and hold it on the side - until you get this gun broken in on quality factory ammo, and running right. I don't know what you've built, because there's a very limited parts list in your first post, but it doesn't sound like a cheap gun. Don't buy a new Corvette and fill it up with 87 octane. Find some Federal Gold Medal Match in the 175gr flavor, and run your gun for about 60 more rounds with that. Or, just get some other quality ammo, like PMC Bronze. Just run something good - MagTech sucks. Been there with it. #1 - complete parts list, very, very detailed on the recoil system. #2 - get a picture up of this rifle. #3 - get a picture up of how far the gas tube protrudes into the upper receiver - preferable pics are with the BCG OUT, and looking straight down into the upper receiver. Need to see the end of the gas tube... You ran 75 rounds through this gun, then something happened... It worked for 75 rounds - then it didn't work. Something broken in the trigger group? Break a hammer pin? Disconnector come apart? Pop a primer in some of that MagTech ammo, and it's jamming your trigger group up? Man, there's so many things that could be wrong here - but you haven't given enough information yet...
  5. At least, they didn't say "Shenanigans" again...
  6. Reminds me of something Kenny Moore once said... "No, really, don't mess with me because I don't come down to the bus station and slap the dick out of your mouth when you're working, do I?....."
  7. That's that Bruce Jenner shiit, ain't it. He's eating the same thing as Bruce?...
  8. Brother - that thing got built. And it's BAD... 16" carbine-gas 6.5 Grendel M4. MaTech rear sight, my own set-screw front sight base, and a Primary Arms 5x fixed prism red-dot scope. It's no joke at 500~600 yards. I haven't tried it on the 850 yet. I guess I need to get that dirty girl out more. That went down when your Grendel Mk12 build went down. Same build times.
  9. My dope chart on those 88s was dead on the money at FS19. RIGHT on the money. It was 8.1 mils of drop at 850, just like the chart said it should be. Last weekend, I had to pull 10.0 mils of drop to hit the 850 with the 75gr Fed American Eagle ammo. That's a huge difference, right there. Almost 2 more mils of drop. All loaded ammo, between the two loads - factory ammo. It was this vs. this.
  10. NICE, BROTHER!!! You found it all!!!
  11. Are you kidding me?... I guess the other one was carbine-cutout, wasn't it...
  12. I'm SENDING YOU SOME. What the hell you adding that to a cart for?!...
  13. That's BS. I'll find out what's going on...
  14. That is FANTASTIC!!! Congrats to you two!!! I'd be a few years away from 30 right now, if I stayed with that first one. NO WAY was that happening, though...
  15. That Sierra MatchKing 90gr is supposed to be a bad bastard in 224 Valk, brother - don't get sucked in though - Sierra now makes a 95gr SMK, just for Valk, but the thing needs to be shot through a 1:6.5" twist barrel to run right. 1:7" just won't do it for that one. I'm WAY happy with how the Hornady 88gr Match ammo ran at the Fall Shoot - and I don't have a single thing yet for reloading this cartridge. I'll get to it, eventually, but it won't be sooner, it'll be awhile. I need to duplicate that load, it did great. I wonder if Barnes has a TSX or TTSX for this thing... EDIT - SHIIT... They DO have a TSX, 78gr. That's as big as they go in the TSX, but the thing has a BC of .383, and it's 1.145" long... Nothing close in TTSX yet... EDIT 2 - @MikedaddyH - that Federal American Eagle 75gr Valk isn't bad - I just tried it on a shiity day, with high wind, at 850 yards. It did fine at 500 yards. It's good, under that, too. Plus, it looks like good brass, so that's a bonus. When I get to making this stuff, I'll be using CCI 41 primers for all of it - I learned my lesson on the Grendels, and this is similar. That much power in a little small-frame AR cartridge, it's gonna wear out primer pockets. Just go with the 41s right off the bat, man. I'm moving the .260 Rem over to CCI 34 primers.
  16. Let me check into that... I'll get info back here on that.
  17. That whole thing was EPIC!!! But, watch your ass, Doc... @Armed Eye Doc
  18. That was unbelievably COOL!!!
  19. Went out last Sunday to test some more of the NEXUS ammo - ran through .308 Win 168gr, .260 Rem 139gr Laupa Scenar, and the 77gr .223 Rem loads. Here's the Usual Suspects for this one - the 20" .308 bolt gun, the Mk12 Mod 1, and the .260 Rem. My winds were from due South, and I shoot due West - so Full Value wind from left to right. Wind on the Kestrel was varying 8.9mph~14.3mph - sucked. But, I'm set up, so I'm shooting it. Here's the overall look out there, paper at 100, IPSC steel at 500 and 850. Here's an inset pic of that 500: Here's the inset of the 850: Even with dealing with wind, I got those 5.56 loads on steel at 850 - but it was 5 3/4 mils of wind hold. In the pics below, the dull spash on steel is .308 Win. The super-shiny centers on splash is .260 Rem. The little tiny "pokes" on the target are 5.56... Here's the 500: The 850: I'll take that, for a shiit-wind day. I've never tried to put 5.56 out to 850 in winds like that. It was valuable info, though... Those three tiny dings at the bottom, in a line, are the 5.56 hits. The two dark splashes left-of center (one in the white) are .308 Win. That bright silver splash, one in the head and one in the neck, right edge, are .260 Rem. That gun just rocks.
  20. Here's the lube, the link, and you CAN buy it online. Those that were devoted testers - just let me know. I still have some to send out, for the hard work. Seriously. American Guns & Ammo in Mesa, AZ is the shop that fronted this, so they're the only ones selling it. It's THEIR lube now. https://shop.americangunsandammo.com/parts-gear/cleaning-equipment/premium-gun-lube-2426468 If you haven't tried this, and you buy it - please review it. I'll get a review thread going to put info into. For those that were in one the testing, going back to later-2016 - you already know what's up...
  21. NOW I see it! Time to address the recoil system...
  22. Here were the hits in the 1000 from that day. We poked it with smaller calibers, but it's pretty easy to see which ones were the Win Mag. (I didn't take pics of these targets until I put them out last weekend, then painted them, and fucked them up again...) Here was the final wind call on the 1200, smacked the SHIIT out of it, and called it a day. Hennessey pouring out of me... It hit and swung that plate like you cannot imagine. It was impressive as fuk. I couldn't believe the power that thing still had at that distance, to move that plate like it did. It wasn't a "wiggle" either - that thing was going back and forth. This will be common from now on, now that I've got this gun and load figured out. I'm stashing a GoPro out there close to it to record this shiit.
  23. There's one more update coming, but not tonight. We were back on late Sunday afternoon, before dark. Ron didn't fly out until late Tuesday... So...
  24. After we figured out that part, we were pretty much done on LR2, so we packed that site up and headed back to camp. Once we got back to camp - it was about 2pm. @Matt.Cross had a flight out at 5am Monday morning, Eric volunteered to drive him to the airport, then hit the road back to Canada, so we decided to just pack up the camp and head back to Casa De Pain. Me, Ron, @blue109, Eric, Matt, and MikeDaddy. @blue109 split off and headed back to Tucson, the other 5 of us hit the house, unpacked the trailer and truck, got cleaned up, and hit the local Mexican restaurant for some food. Got back to the house, and the magic "departure time"for Matt was figured out - Eric and Matt had to leave the house at 3:05am to make Matt's flight check-in, etc. It was a great time for Eric to not have any bullshiit traffic through Phoenix, too - smooth sailing. Well, I set my alarm for 2:50am... It goes off, I get up... and start listening. I don't hear anything. Nothing. Not a peep in the house... Okay, so these fuckers are still sleeping, and they have to leave in 15 minutes... They were smart, though - packed the car the night before, but STILL... They gotta ROLL in 15 minutes, and Casa De Pain is QUIET! So I laugh, and WAIT... At 3:05am, I burst out from upstairs... onto the landing up there... and these two fuckers are tip-toeing, sneaking around in the house, trying to be quiet... I just yelled "It's 3:05am, so GRAB YOUR SHIIT AND GO!!!"... That woke MikeDaddy up - who claimed his favorite position in the green recliner in the dining room, and there were laughs all about the house. It was a comical end to a pretty badass long weekend. Love you fuckers.
