WAY longer than a .308AR set of receivers - that's the .338 Lapua Magnum AR - and the frame set is the host for the 500 Blackout. If you think that .308AR receivers are about 30% larger than AR15 receivers - the .338LM receivers are another 30% larger than the 308 stuff.

Previously, they were Monmouth Reloading - and they kicked ass at what they did. They still do kick ass - they just offer more now, with the addition of hard parts as well as reloading supplies. They're a damn great company, brother.

WHOA! Those are usually two completely different platforms and lowers, right there. Glock mags are, well, Glock mags. Colt mags are almost identical to the 32-round UZI mags. It's not the upper that's probably giving you the issues - it's whatever is going on with your lower setup. Pics, please.

No worries - just trying to see if there is something out there to determine if you have a PSA Boat Anchor (Gen 1) or something you can work with and get to run, with some work (Gen 2)...

That sounds exactly like DPMS High and Low profile upper dimensions - but that was never determined for any PSA rifles. Please cite your source for that, as a determination, on PSA rifles in original pattern, versus PSA Gen 2... Thank you, in advance...

Let me know how your 140s do through it - are you going to drill the gas port first? Reason I ask is - if you don't, and your 140s DO work, something is terribly wrong with my own 140 load...

My main go-to distance for testing final loads and drops is 845 yards. Come up with loads and test for accuracy at 100 yards, and see how they do, starting at 0.3 grains apart. Pick the best ones with no pressure signs, and reload them in that range at 0.2 grains apart. Retest at 100 yards, and finalize the load. After that, they go to 500 yards and 845 yards for testing of the drop at those distances. It's quite the fun process...

And the dies, and I'm in. Gotta have the dies, or the project goes nowhere with just the barrel and bolt - if I can't make the ammo. Toss that back at them, and let's see what happens. I'm still in, though. I'll talk to Hornady next week and see where they're at on the sizing die sets, straight from them...

I did not - but they were recently on sale for $179 not long ago, too. I've been watching them for awhile now, though, and waiting for other 308 BCG manufacturers to "wake up" a little, and realize that there are some "performance" things that they can design in a BCG. The AR15 BCGs have been picking up on this for years now. Reduced bearing surfaces, sand cuts, etc. DSA has an AR15 "Sand Cut" BCG that is just wonderful. See below:

This,by itself, is a classic sign of over-pressure in a gas gun. But, hold on... You followed with this info: "Every round I've fired through it (from both barrels, the new one and the old one), the primers on the empty cases are cratered...............badly. So badly, in fact, that when you stand one on it's end (on a table, for instance) it tips noticeably to one side. I've tried a number of different factory rounds in this gun, all had cratered primers (Hornady Superformance, Federal Fusion, Fort Scott, Remington Core-lokt, and Winchester Deer Season XP). My reloading experience is telling me there is a pressure issue, but nearly all of my gun experience is with bolt actions, not semi-automatic, and certainly not AR's." Those aren't over-pressured rounds, as factory ammo - no way all that ammo you picked up was over-pressured... Over sized firing pin hole in the face of the bolt. Diameter of the firing pin tip is pretty much "standardized," as much as they is not a standard on the Big AR... DPMS was notorious on that specific issue on the earlier G II, with an oversized firing pin hole... Really need to know part specifics on what you built, before anyone here can comment on all the possibilities. List it out...

Strange, I was looking through his posts last night, and we never answered him or got back to him. He hasn't been on in awhile, since the day after he made this post...

Shot the piss out of it so far. It's scary accurate. Heads up on Wilson Combat barrels - you need Armalite AR-10 gas tubes in them. Even the gas tubes that Wilson Combat sells/sends out are DPMS-lengthed, and too short. You'll need the Armalite AR-10 Rifle length gas tube. I'm 100% handloading for this rifle, no store-bought ammo at all through it. The only load I have right now that functions 100% of the time is a 147gr Hornady ELD-M projo, 43.0 grains of RL-22 powder (it's a magnum powder that I use for .338 LM loads and 300 Win Mag loads), CCI 200 primers, at 2.785" COL. Perfect load. The 140s I had loaded up (Hornady ELD-Ms and a different powder) won't even extract the brass from the chamber, and it's not a weak load. There's just not enough gas in there, and that load is suffering. So, do I think you should up your gas port? Hell yeah, start off with 0.081". When mine comes apart for paint, it's going to 0.081", and might go up from there.

Put it together and shoot it, first, with what you're planning. It's easier to diagnose (if necessary) that way. You build it complicated right off the bat, then it's tougher to find a place to start, when diag time comes. Armalite EA1095 spring, right here, $8... https://dsgarms.com/armea1095
