Shot once, don't own yet. Everytime I check out from DSG Arms, I forget to toss one in my cart. I'll have some soon - it's at the top of my mind everytime I'm on that site now. The 5.56 L5s are the only thing I'll buy now for the other ARs. Don't get me wrong - love me some Pmags. I just don't see the reason to buy more Pmags with the L5s at the same price. Those things ROCK!...

Best bet is Fulton Armory. If you're just looking for the hooded insert for rear sights, they definitely have them, as well as full National Match iron sight setups. Don't know if they offer it for the 308, but I'd bet it's on the website somewhere. Rock River Arms also offers excellent NM iron sight setups, but aything for the upper receiver of the LAR8 .308 isn't going to fit your DPMS LR308. Sorry. Brought that up so you don't find something, get it, and find out it won't work.

Yep, even if you lose that whole straight section on the inner end of the cone, it'll still do it's job - cone retaining the blast. Need the outer diameter of that straight section on the inner end of the cone? I'll take apart a KX3 today.

<lmao> Here it was when I only had the stock completed. I took it out to shoot after curing for a few days, just to see how it was going to hold up - it did great. Right after this range trip, I stripped it and painted all the metal parts in Aervoe "Light Coyote." Here it was, completed, and out in the wild:

I used one of these big fat sea sponge things, and just tore off random hunks to dip in paint, and dab the stock with. Use it, turn it, use it again - grab another random hunk. Worked great for varying the pattern, making something completely random. <thumbsup> I'll end up using this technique on the big 700 one day...

The cone in the KX3 is almost the diameter of the whole device. It threads in from the front, so it's just slightly smaller than the OD of the whole thing. There's plenty of room to machine the hole up to 3/8"~10mm.

Used all Aervoe paints for the Savage FV-SR paintjob, and this poor little rifle has been run through the ringer. No rubbing off, no major marks, and Jake has used it for 5 Appleseed Shoots. He beat the schit out of the flip-up scope caps, and they're broken off now, but it's holding up extremely well. Can't remember when I painted this, but it's been several years now. Search out "Sponge Camo" and it will give you an idea of how to do this "pattern." This was the first time I'd done it, and it came out just the way I wanted.

Norinco MAK-90 on the AK-type. Damn thing shoots very well, too. You're under 2,300fps at 39.1gr, and just over 2,300fps at 39.6gr. Get it closer to 2,400fps and see how it does. Max charge listed in the Hornady #9 is 41.3gr = 2,400fps for IMR 4064. Give it a shot. Literally... <lmao>

Yep. You should look at one of the two-piece rail systems, too, unless you want to unpin and remove that FSB. You'll have to take it off if you get a one-piece rail system.

Hit the range today - my buddy wanted to bring his girlfriend out and get her comfortable with some 9mm. We mostly shot pistol, but I dragged out The Usual Suspects... We ended up shooting pistol at 15 yards, and she was doing DAMN well! She made some good progression today. However, I decided her target needed some .45 ACP headshots... <lmao> My buddy was working completely on left-hand shooting, and did pretty well with his .45. I decided it needed some headshots, too... <laughs> Great afternoon in the desert. <thumbsup>

You can easily generate enough heat through shooting to melt loc-tite. RockSett takes 1,500 degrees to melt, but is about the holding equivalent of blue loc-tite.

^^^ Timing shims, I have seen. Hadn't seen peel washers, though. Makes sense, they don't crush.

Rory is using the AP lower. Like to hear what the other combo is - the other guy's rifle.

Those 150s with 43.5 look good, too - bump up a batch to 44.0 and give it a try. <thumbsup>

You may be the first to have to try that out. I'm certain that there isn't anybody on this site that's done it. Check other boards, though, because someone out there might be fed up enough to have done this.
