We just finished modifying the prints to accommodate a 16" rifle length model for both our .308 AR and AR-15 line. We're also doing some research to see if we can add barrels to production (18" and 22") that can be configured for S&W and Armalite pattern rifles as well. Those 16" rifle length barrels should be entering production shortly.

That's good because I'm looking for a 308 barrel now that the one I had ordered from another Co. went belly up . Where will these Barrels be available ?

Would a 16" rifle gas in .308/7.62 cut down to 14.5" work ???

It should. It's all about parts compatibility at that point. In theory, if the gas tube fits, it should work. I'm waiting for some entrepreneur to make a 13.7" with a micro gas block at the rifle length, then permanently cap it with a KX5.

WarSport got a 12" 5.56 barrel to fire with a mid length gas.

You'd come close to running out of room to mount a gas block.  It would be tight, probably won't go.  Here's the Criterion/Fulton 18.5" rifle gas .308 barrel, for comparison - imagine another 4" gone from the front:

I'll find the bare 16" and post it up.

Small pic - I'll try to find another one, or we enlist the help of SS...  :))

I'm not sure you'd have enough dwell time. Maybe if you had a muzzle device that boosted back pressure a bit.

Alot of guys said the PUG 15 wouldn't cycle, either, and it ran like a champ.  I'd bet this config would do the same - there's alot of gas pressure in the .308 Win rounds.

Getting a chopped down barrel to work with a rifle length gas system is just a matter of the right combo & weight of the moving parts . You can only get so much gas volume through a normal size gas tube .
