Microgunner
Must have been some pretty sharp rocks I say no shoot.
Matt.Cross
No shoot. Way too many people could catch a stray or a pass through or ricochet. Idiot should've complied with the fellas in blue.
planeflyer21
Boils down to training. Is hucking rocks considered an illegal use of physical/deadly physical force? Yup. Should an alternative use of force been employed by police? Probably. From everything I've seen, POST has been watered down to "If there is a threat that could cause serious injury, shoot." Heard it from multiple training officers locally. When I was a kid, the local LE used to take down rock throwers by tackle or other means. What changed? <dontknow>
Magwa
Great question Planeflyer21 I am asking myself the same thing what in the hell has changed ,gone wrong , why is this getting more and more prevelant .
98Z5V
Wow! Target foreground and background? That one didn't look like much of a consideration! Hate to say, I wasn't there, didn't see what they saw, didn't have their line of sight. But damn!
blue109
looks like they shot him for his own safety.
survivalshop
He brought a rock to a gun fight & lost , of course . I always say this about these short clips of shootings , we only see a small portion of what really happened . I like the idiot walking across the street toward the gun fire , taking cover would have been prudent .
392heminut
Once again, I won't pass judgement on a short video. As I've said before, there is ALWAYS more to the incident than that brief window. I will say this though, there are a whole lot of documented incidents of people being killed with rocks, starting with the Bible! Having spent 23 years as a LEO 30 miles from the Mexican border and having a son in the Border Patrol I know for a fact Mexicans throwing rocks at law enforcement is very common and a lot of them are quite good at it! blue109
I just wonder what might happen to me if a guy threw a rock at me and ran, and me and a couple of my buddies chased him down and shot him. not so sure a jury would care much what happened right before the camera started rolling. You'd get hammered. But you also aren't required to interject yourself into pursuit after a felony has been committed (observe and report), whereas police are required to do so. It's been awhile since I avoided thrown rocks but, as I quickly closed the ground between me and the thrower, you could easily discern the expression on their face of recognition that they'd made a rather large error in judgement. Microgunner
I'd be willing to bet that those cops wish they could call those bullets back now that the heat of the moment has passed.
Sharkey
A white boy was throwing deadly (possibly poison tipped) rocks at police today who 100% justifiably blazed him down in a flurry of gun fire and the mad crazy, possibly PCPd up white boy was dead at the scene. Kudos to the police for thwarting what could possibly have turned in to window breaking or perhaps even a bad nick on a Mercedes. My hat is off to these fine officers. Al Sharpton reporting. .308LiteHunter
That video pisses me off. 3 grown ass men and they have to shoot a guy running away from them and throwing rocks. They signed up to serve and protect, just tackle him and cuff him. If you get hit by a rock so what, that's bullsh$t.
98Z5V
I'm thinking bean bag shotgun or firehose You mean a 2-foot section of firehose, with a handle on one end? Good interrogation tool, right there! <thumbsup>

Zebra644
You mean a 2-foot section of firehose, with a handle on one end? Good interrogation tool, right there! <thumbsup> LOL sure, But in all seriousness there is a lack of availability of non-lethal equipment for agencies. Now not knowing or seeing except what is shown, why not call a fire truck in and put the hose to him? No bean bag shotgun, no pepper ball to zing him with I didn't see a single Taser in any hand when they were running after him that would be a good time to use one . I know rocks hurt, but bullets are final. IS this guy a runaway from a psych ward or emotionally unstable? Was he throwing rocks at cars or just as the police when they went on scene? If so get a plan together stay in the car, use the car mic maybe? Not enough on it from this video to Monday Morning Q.B. Do they have Tasers so you have some form of non-lethal? dprice38444
rocks are considered deadly weapons. they can hurt, maim and kill.if you don't want to get hurt, listen to the cops request
blue109
saw a quote in a book a while ago that I liked. "what are they going to do when they hit someone that hits back" doesn't matter if this was technically justified or not, it will be filed away in the "one more straw" category. rookie cop blasted some unarmed guy in a dark stairwell for no reason in NYC recently. they are taking fire from the rooftops now. http://m.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/gunman-targets-trio-cops-atop-brooklyn-housing-project-article-1.2138293?cid=msn going to get worse from here.
