jtallen83 Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 Whatever it is it does seem to work well on carbon...........
planeflyer21 Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 Don't know about Fireclean but had a machining instructor who swore Crisco was the best for machining aluminum. "Stays in place and keeps it cool!" he said.He was convincing so I gave it a try.Never had so many damn chips stuck to everything, everywhere.
MikedaddyH Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 But does it pass the French fry test ?
washguy Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 I believe the test " I contacted a professor at the University of Arizona – a very nice man with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry – and he agreed to help with an infrared spectroscopy test of FireClean and two types of Crisco". That gizmo doesnt lie Thanks Robo...now all my rifles and handguns smell like fries when I fire emgood thing is.....fireclean and vinegar make a great salad dressing...although kinda expensive Wash
beachmaster Posted September 16, 2015 Report Posted September 16, 2015 I stay away from all of these fancy pants lubes.Right now I use Lucas, and I have some milpro, but I will just be going over to motor oil I think.I can't help but feel that the gun oil industry is a joke.
392heminut Posted September 16, 2015 Report Posted September 16, 2015 I use Mobil 1 on my guns. That being said, a guy just gave me 7 full, unused bottles of military issue Break Free CLP that he found dumpster diving behind the local Natl. Guard Armory. I figure some youngster was doing some cleaning and figured since the teflon had settled they were no good and threw them away!

98Z5V Posted September 17, 2015 Report Posted September 17, 2015 I use vagisil on my barrel nut...makes the nut go on easy, but stay real tight.. and has a protective barrier against moisture..hard to explain..... WashI like the Vagisil. Use it at work. Everytime some dude starts cryin' again about this or that, he gets smeared down. Doesn't take but about 5 minutes and he's back to work again, mouth shut.I once used Vagisil as an insult here. In the same post, I just told the guy to shut his cockholster. I got warned for it. With the warning (from Drew) came the comment, "I've never seen that used as an insult before, and I laughed my a$$ off about it! Here's your warning..."
planeflyer21 Posted September 17, 2015 Report Posted September 17, 2015 I like the Vagisil. Use it at work. Everytime some dude starts cryin' again about this or that, he gets smeared down. Doesn't take but about 5 minutes and he's back to work again, mouth shut. After reading the first part of that sentence, I thought for sure the underlined part was going to be "another happy customer!"
