We  I kind of agree in a way with some this articles points & with good replacement parts kinda scarce , but this is a damn fine rife & it doesn't need to be bedded to be accurate , like this reads & yes one of those hot shot chassis are expensive , but make it even a better rifle . The  308 ARs are a good choice for DMR , but I think this author is off a little on some of this article .

The only part I agreed with was the part about the AR10/308AR being a superior replacement. The M14/M1A is still, and will remain to be, a very proficient rifle. I don't see a "need" to replace it, other than there's a better option available.

You guys don't have an M14 (or two or three)? Geez, you're missing out  :bitchslap:.

I don't know who the author is, don't care. He's got an agenda (stock in 308AR parts manufacturing, who knows?) For all its faults when in full-auto, the M14 is a superbly accurate rifle in semi-auto. It requires more care and attention during the build than an AR-style rifle does, but the worst aspect concerning its future use is the parts supply is drying up. Unless that is addressed, the M14 will pass into U.S. military history forever.

I was talking to our state CMP Director a while back. Said he had heard that South Korea is sitting on over a quarter million M14's and everyone wonders when they will release them. Also, if you live in Canada you can buy an absolutely beautiful Norinco M1a. A very knowledgeable source told me they are coveted by civilian marksmen up there for their high quality.

Present administration stopped the import using a BS interpretation of the import regulation.

An investor had the rifle's ( M1 Garands ) waiting to be imported & ol'butthole denied the import ( he didn't want to add to the Assault rifles already on our streets , truth ). It was rumored Springfield Armory had some input on the denial , but that's a rumor , who knows . Highly unlikely South Korea will be permitted to import M14's , if they did , they would be for LE , Military or  Class three Dealer samples . Now the M1's , they are all Arsenal refinished & are very good rifles , mostly with war torn stocks , mostly Birch.

Somebody should kick Obummer in the nuts twice - once for the rifles, once for the carbines.  No reason these couldn't be brought back either private dealer or CMP or both.  And it pisses me off that ROK can reap a gold mine out of these if they were, in fact, paid for by U.S. taxpayers.

They will not sell for anything near what the article reads , that high asking price is for non imported original unmolested M1's . These Arsenal refinished rifle will be less expensive then a Fulton or Springfield Armories rifles , but the same issues were there when the first group came into the US , I sold Many of them & still have one , I was getting five or more price of $ 179 ea. back then . No doubt they would go for way much more now .

A huge import dump might initially cause some stupid low prices. Remember the $49 mosins.

Big difference in the national perception of a Mosin vs the Almighty Garand That Single Handedly Won WWII!

a significant portion of modern firearms enthusiasts are super tactical. If it's not black with rails and crap stuck on it they have no interest. A big enough dump flooding the market could really hook us up on pricing initially.  Not $49 obviously, but a nice discount nonetheless!
