Made a bag out of my old hunting waist worn bag, I had always hunted with a small trowel but at the field a shovel is much easier. the red root slayer hasn't been used yet. but next trip it will. I also have ruined the knees on a few pants so now I wear knee pads.

It looks like a lot of fun!

It can be, it's pretty good exercise. These new ones tell you about what it is. they're not always right and i'm having to learn to use the digital readouts but I enjoy it. it's too hot right now. in the upper 90's.

I have been wanting to take mine to the Beach , just keep forgetting to pack it in the Truck . A lot of people lose stuff coming on the Beach from the Condo's & since we drive on the beach here , lot of stuff dropped out of Trucks ( 4x4 only now in most of the beach's here ). I have a inexpensive one the wife got me for Christmas a couple years ago . It has been great for finding bolts & such in the Grass next to my Truck .😎

I am afraid what I would find. Near by copper culture artifacts have been found that are 5,000 years old. I have seen them for myself. Also the first european explorer in Wisconsin camped on or near my property in 1640. In addition several intertribal battles occurred in this area in the early 1700’s. I would probably be messing around with native grave sites, so I am reluctant to fire up my metal detector. I find pottery shards now and then on my walks.

went detecting today, spent about four hours and didn't find nothing but some old bullets. the son in law called and ask where I was and he came over and hunted a little. about 5 I had run out of water and he was ready to go too. it was hot in that field.  Told him I had a fishing magnet on order and he said we can go use mine now if you want. I was tired but said sure I know a slew we go to to.

We get there and I hunt one side of the bridge an him the other. I pulled up a cut up truck frame and other stuff, we were about to leave after a couple hours and he pulled  up a new  looking bill dance special rod and reel.
