jtallen83
I got this email from the range I just signed up at, think I'll stick with going early and shooting alone, seems to be some airheads involved.... :cookoo: Someone left an AR at the club last week and MM has collectedit. If you were at the club last week shooting your AR I suggest you putyour hands on it and if you can not you might want to contact M Mat ###+++#### to describe your AR to him and see if it is yours. On another note, I did get a call from another member who thinks he lefthis Ruger P89 at SGC some time back. If you have recovered one from theRange please contact me so we can get it to the rightful owner.ThanksCl!@#$ never heard of this before <dontknow>
392heminut
If some doofus left his AR at the range he probably shouldn't have it in the first place! Just sayin!

DNP
I could see one slipping through the cracks when you take 20 of them like some folks do... Maybe it got mixed in with another members stack...

DNP
Hey, he hooks it up at the range. That guy brings guns and ammo galore to share! But yeah...I could see one falling out of his or Tom's stack and them not noticing for a while... And yes I'm kidding...those boys tuck them all in and kiss em goodnight. There would be a town lockdown if one slipped away from their herd. Edited May 7, 2014 by DNP

Toolndie7
Wow. A buddy of mine got "disciplined" when I shot my tommy gun as a guest. Guests cant shoot carbines. The nest day some one called the pres and said they "think" they left their pistol at the range 2 weeks ago and has anyone seen it? He got no discipline. how the heck do you loose a gun? shepp
If you can lose a gun you prolly shouldn't/ aren't responsible enough to own one.

gnatshooter
How many guys have the serial numbers of their weapons written down somewhere? I do, but I only did the list very recently. I went for years without listing my guns and in a way I feel I've been kinda lucky and none of 'em got stolen. I don't think the cops will do much about a stolen weapon without having a serial number, and what the Range would do without a serial number is not immediately obvious unless there's some unmistakeable modifications. unforgiven
Good idea brother.I have all the paperwork from all the firearms but it wouldn't hurt to have a list of them all on one piece of paper.

Tripledeuce
After being in the retail gun business, and getting god knows how many calls from people who bought guns fome me looking for the serial numbers, ALL my guns are listed on a book that is the type dealers use for ffl transations. make, model, serial number cal,who I bought it from, and how much, and ( seldom) if I sell one, who I sold it toand how much. Now, for the mea culpa. About 20 years ago, about 5 years after I had moved to Durango, but long befor it became "californiasied" I had just returned home after 12 hours at the range, during our public "sight in days". As I unloaded my truck, I realised I had left my Ruger #1 7X57 at the range! Blast back to the range, and find my rifle "tucked" into the gun rack, but hidden inside an "I" beam that supported the roof, and the gun rack. Just where I had left it. It really couldn't be seen, unless you knew it was there. Not saying that would be so, today, but it was 20 years ago, and the LAST time I ever left anything at the range! In the last 5 years or so, we've had a few things left at the range. Spotting scopes, screwdriver kits, and yes, a couple of guns. Everything got returned to the right person, except one handgun. And we had a pretty good idea who took that! Accidents happen! Wright those seril numbers down!!! Respectfully Terry
Dracomeister
I guess I'm really anal, I have all the serial numbers saved, pictures of all my firearms ( both sides ) and pictures of the serial number on the firearm. Not anal! I have the same thing with the sales slip attached. The Insurance Company requires "Positive Proof of Ownership" and I ain't takin' no chances! Also, several years ago my Dad had a .38 stolen from his home. He didn't want to report it stolen because he thought a family member had taken it (turned out to be the kid next door). We finally talked him in to reporting it stolen and two years later it was used in an armed robbery where the perp got capped (not the kid next door). Local LEO said it was a good thing he reported it stolen WITH the serial number otherwise they would have been asking him some serious questions about how the poor deceased cherub managed to get his innocent little hands on the piece. That's what I do now, digital made it real easy. Kept a list since I was 12 and joined the NRA, they had a form for it then.
Tripledeuce
Digital? Really? ??? ever loose a hard drive? Just had it stop, or corrupted by virus? I have. lost a years worth of work on a book I was writing. Come on, you all know, or have had a drive "go bad". on another note. Since I insure my guns, I go over them once a year (or more) and re-list my guns. Then I duplicate it, send a copy to my insurance company, and another to myself.Certified mail, so there can be NO descrepensies with what my guns are worth. Went into Sportsman's the other day, they had a small stack of the little folded cardboard ATF Personal Firearms Records. I asked the hunting manager "How come there's only like 8 spaces? Can I take the whole stack of cards?" <dontknow>
392heminut
I've got a 'Bianchi Firearms Record Book' that a friend gave me over 20 years ago that have all my guns in it. It's pretty thorough, has spaces for make, model, ser. #, value, caliber, barrel length, special features, date acquired, date sold and disposition, I quit putting any kind of value for a firearm in the book, I had $480 for my Colt Anaconda and $600 For my Colt Python back when I bought them and both of those guns are worth over $1K each now! Tripledeuce
I like paper! Stuff I can hold!LOL!! Also, I'm a computer luddite. I barley know enough to turn on the computer. Also am dyslex, add, and bi-polar, as you can tell by my spelling and typing. Spelling rules just don't make sense to me, and float out of my head like vapor. I did use a back-up, but the same virus that locked the on board hard drive, also fried the back up. I backed up things, as my wife showed me, not knowing I was transfering the virus to the back up untill I tried to boot it up. So, anything un-replacable I now print into hard copy! Maybe you an tell, my "a" key is sticking today,LOL!! Respectfully Terry
