Hey man - you don't have to like it.  We rebuilt one and put it in a tug.  That thing was badass.  Pull anything you want, anywhere you want.  I love the hell out of those things!

I thought that Dauntless 235 V-6 he mentioned was a V-6...not a slant 6.

My '67 Jeepster Commando had A Buick V-6.  A 235.  Jeep used FIVE different incarnations of that engine that year.  All of them had interchangeable parts.

Except for mine.   :ugone2far:   :fawkdance:  Took a proprietary distributor cap, on a proprietary distributor, that none of the other distributors would fit.  Only like 430+ rolled off the assembly line with that engine.

The dude at Willy's Works in Tucson said "Yeah, you got the crap engine. Most people just re-engine them."

Or sell it.

yes it is the buick engine and it is a sweet smooth engine never been around one before .. using the overdrive you get 9 forward gears and 3 in reverse in low and direct you can walk next to it has controls for the winch under the hood and inside the cab, also changed the steering box to a excelerated steering box which is sweet . has 488 gears thank god for the overdrive goes down the road at 60 MPH at 1800 RPM's

When I was a kid Mom had a CJ-6 (look that one up), which the PO had purchased at a Border Patrol auction...having been siezed from a smuggler.  It was all kinds of suped up!

Done right, the torque on those V-6 engines is immense with the right cam...not a curve but a plateau.  You could romp it in any gear in high and it would move NOW.  Low was amazing!
