  1. Never understood how this roller thingy became so popular. Unless I just don’t understand how the system works I would think that if the cam pin is dragging you have something seriously out of spec. I can’t count the number of times I have read posts on various forums with people gushing over how much smoother their AR functions with the roller cam pin so maybe I don’t have a clue............maybe.
  2. It’s a POF roller cam thing for the AR-15 DI version since it is originally designed for their piston system. https://pof-usa.com/product/roller-cam-pin-upgrade-kit/ Pretty sure the 308 version doesn’t need the new gas key.
  3. Gather I didn’t express myself clearly, I have no issue with people using the system they have been given. I hold no grudges against anyone it works for except of course the establishment that put it in place partly so they could raid it. I am simply trying to express how new the concept is for the history of civilization. This system was locked in before any of us could have had a say but is in its infancy comparatively. I ran across some interesting reading while researching early American saw makers. Henry Disston had a type of retirement for his workers. People were given less demanding jobs as their health required but maintained the same wage. Workers who were disabled received stipends as did widows. He built a community for his workers, made sure they had schools and healthcare. Consequently he had very little problem finding and keeping help. This worked great for Disston and his workers from 1840 when he had one employee till the depression era when the company had grown to many thousands of Workers. As usual the establishment created a problem and a solution that benefited them and continue to exploit that solution to this day. When the current system is unbearable their political cronies will have another solution to sell us that will give them even more control over the working class. I do not intend on retiring from work but most assuredly I will take whatever benefits I can from the money removed from my check all these years knowing that if I were allowed to keep that money I would have had a good deal more but if I had not contributed the money I would be a felon. Your thoughts on “getting back to a balance “ suggest there was a balance at one point, this supposed balance was based on estimates of future earnings and the perpetual growth of the system, all smoke and mirrors like any good Ponzi scheme and like Ponzi schemes those that get in early do fine, the perpetrators need this to keep people believing and bring in the rubes. They make it sound great, don’t worry just give us your money and we will take care of everything, just look how well it works for Grandpa they say., that and if you don’t pay we put you in jail, there’s balance and liberty for you, maybe the whole thing is more like extortion than a Ponzi scheme? Like most everything in life the further one gets from being personally responsible the better the chance those responsibilities will not be met. Again, I am not disparaging any retiree for simply doing what he was brought up to believe was right. I speak on topic in more of a macro level than an individual level. Previous generations traded away liberty for the promise of security, the deal was done before any of us had a say. We should not expect a Ponzi scheme to last forever and we should most certainly not look for solutions to the problem from the same establishment that ran the scheme in the first place. We should instead look to ourselves to be responsible for our own future. I have a hard time believing anyone in the establishment would care for my rationale, sorry if this rationalization caused any discomfort, along with being dangerous true Liberty can be uncomfortable at times.

  5. What criteria are you using? The reason I ask is I have seen some variations on the Armalite style that could cause issues getting the right rail. I have two Matrix receiver sets with the Armalite angle cut, one used the Armalite barrel nut thread pattern while the other used the DPMS pattern. Neither one will mate to my AR-10.

  7. The concept of retirement as not working past a certain age is less than 100 years old. Why do people think this is something that will work for a society? It is a socialist principal foisted on the world by the progressive movement and their banker masters with its sustainability based on a Ponzi scheme. It works for fewer and fewer people these days because that is the nature of the Ponzi scheme. I honestly think it has damaged this country and it was known it would by the establishment that sold the idea. How can it be a good thing to separate the most knowledgeable and skilled in the workplace from the younger generations in need of training and guidance. Beyond just work skills the older among us are irreplaceable in their life knowledge, isolate them from the younger generations and it becomes easier for the establishment to rule. It was bad idea that has caused long term damage in hopes of fixing a short term problem, In another century people will wonder what those twentieth century idiots were thinking when they institutionalized “retirement “, if they ever shake loose the chains. Liberty First.
  8. You don't have to worry about the slots lining up and losing gas pressure is the biggest "advantage" I see, not that that has ever caused me an issue. There has been a trend in the industry to undersize the rings to lower the gas pressure, just doesn't seem right to me, I want the tail of my bolt to stay as square as possible in the carrier, lots of other more conventional ways to lower pressure.
  9. Not permanently but very often. Get yourself on the email notification and buy two real fast when they come in. They do come in stock fairly regularly though.
  10. I have McFarland rings in a couple 308’s and a couple AR15’s, never had a problem with them but then never had a problem with standard rings either. Armalite used to put them in all their AR-10’s so they must have seen a benefit.
  11. Bet y'all thought this was another newbie posting in the wrong section No big prize to win, just a new spring and follower for a 10 round PMAG, matches my Gen 3 Pmag. Whomever posts up with the shortest 10 round LR/SR PMAG used spring will get the new one, contest ends on Flag day, June 14th. I have a few laying around and thought this may be a good way to see what kind of wear these things will handle and still run. There are thousands of rounds through the one pictured as a comparison to the new but can't see where it has caused any issues. Pictures showing the measurement and the written measurement required. Here are pics of the new spring giving the general idea of the data points. Also a comparison next to an old spring.
  12. They are a blast to shoot, a can will solve that loud issue. I have a Sig p716 that I would not recommend, has had malfunction issues, needs cleaned before a hundred rounds when using a can or it balks, and the recoil is stiffer than any of my other 308 AR's. Just did a build on an Aero receiver set with a Sig 716 12.5 inch barrel and an SB3A for a brace. It requires a custom gas tube but is a joy to shoot, fairly mild and never misses a beat. Don't let building a 308AR intimidate you, really not that difficult if you research and plan properly. Here are the details of my favorite pistol;
  13. Picked up a Vltor MUR-1 for cheap. Now I gotta figure out what to build that benefits from an extra stiff receiver, suggestions???
  14. 100 yards.
  15. Only shot one nine round group with this rifle my last trip home, didn't have what I thought I did for ammo on the range trip. She did well for a pig with an ebay barrel, 9 shots at just over an inch, take away the flyer and it gets tight, at least for me. If it will do this a few more times in different weather conditions then this one is a done deal, won't even add a 51T for the suppressors so I don't mess anything up. May just get some half MOA out of this one when I see what she likes for ammo, only shot groups with 168 FGMM so far.
  16. Will it lock back manually? How many rounds down the pipe?
  17. Got my package from them yesterday, looked the same except I went with grey. The geometry and finish on the feed ramps is art work. I'll be keeping a closer eye on WC's web page for sure. Book looks like it may be useful and a little entertaining. Had a chance at one of his pistols back in 2002, on a job for the state of Arkansas replacing sidewalks in Berryville. Local guy tried to sell me a used Wilson 1911, I didn't know who Bill Wilson was and didn't care, what kind of sucker pays $600 for a "used" 1911.........
  18. Wilson Combat .338 Federal Gas Port Size .0705" by my chinese calipers on my chinese drill bits............. Gas Block Seat .750" Diameter Gas System Intermediate-Length (13.25") the tube delivered with the barrel was actually 13 3/16" by my Stanley tape. Length 14.7" Rifling 1:10, RH, Six Groove, Precision Button Rifling
  19. Vermont Maple DIPA from Decadent Ales, brewed and canned by Dorchester Brewing Co. Boston Mass. for Decadent Ales. Smells like breakfast, orange juice and french toast, that maple syrup comes through strong, I think I get the toast aroma from the malt but could be the associated aromas from breakfast at Grandma's. A little of that tropical fruit juice hop flavor up front but it doesn't hang around long before the maple syrup bursts into the room. Sweet but not overly sweet just a real strong maple flavor, a little more astringent bitter at the very end but really balanced well, finishes clean. Mouthfeel is creamy but not heavy, only thing stopping me from drinking several is the price and the 9.1% ABV, very little heat felt for that higher ABV.
  20. I have a post with measurements on 4 different catches, your looks like it would be on the short side of the range. Add what you can here, the more the merrier!
  21. SDN-6 should handle the .260 no problem.
  22. Only 5.56 and 7.62 for sizes.
  23. Same here! Bastards ruin schit for all the other birds at the feeder, haven't found a way to get rid of them without losing all the other birds I want around.
  24. I got to handle one of those recently and was really impressed. I have a bit of astigmatism but generally higher end Red Dots are clearer and the Holosun was very crisp looking.
  25. did somebody say Hookers and Blow?!?
