  1. Just because something is legal, does not mean its advisable. What I mean by this is I don't think its a good idea or tactically sound. I carry a gun because of my job, and I carry off duty because I put bad people in bad places and a few would love to get payback for that. Even if I were not a LEO, I would still obtain a CCW permit and carry. I have been through many a special training for weapons retention and carry a retention holster to avoid a gun grab when I am on duty. When I am off duty I carry concealed but always have my head on a swivel and avoid trouble. That being said, think about this, lets say God forbid you are in your local coffee shop or mall or whatever. You are carrying a weapon on the outside and some crazy gunman ( domestic terrorist ) comes in scopes the place out before engaging or just comes in shooting. You are going to be their first target because he can see that you posses a threat to his / her mission. Then your wife or whom ever picks up your gun and now they are also a prime target. Granted someone may or may not be able to get your pistol if you go down and eventually smoke check this person. The whole point is to survive and the bad guy in this situation not so much. Also remember that the likely hood of your being able to be around cover or concealment could be slim to none and good luck trying to plow through the masses to get to that point or getting a clear shot off and engaging. Also think about fight, flight or posture. If you are not perceived as a threat by the shooter and all of a sudden you present a threat it may give you an edge by changing the thought process of the that person requiring them to react by either fight, flight or posture giving you maybe enough time to end the threat. How many of you have been to Wal-Mart? Trust me half the local scum bag population steals there. How many of you train to not use your gun hand when you are reaching for a item on the shelf or how many guys do you see use the cheapest holster out there just to hold the pistol and have really no formal training of any type? If criminals train to take guns away from law enforcement think about that the next time you carry open to make your self a target and your wearing a Fobus or Blackhawk or a single snap holster, kydex does break FYI. Now not only did you make yourself a target or put yourself and possibly your family in a use of force situation now I have a criminal that has a gun that I have to deal with. boy, wouldn't that would be a bad day, getting robbed at gunpoint with your own gun? I ask why, to feel special, or to show that you support the second amendment? I would rather see that person support the second amendment by being a member of the NRA and vote for the politicians who still have some common sense. I as most of you know am very much a constitutionalist, but use anonymity as your friend and as a tactical advantage, t.v. shows are exactly that. trust me I wish I had the support and toys like Las Vegas CSI. Here in my area we have had a few people open carry and its received a visit from yours truly. Our stores here are considered private property and some stores have a no CCW sign posted. LEO's are exempt but permit holders are supposed to abide by the store wishes. Now obviously if you are carrying concealed and not printing who knows right, seriously. Criminals see a no CCW permit sign they are gonna know hey, law abiding citizens cant carry here so as an advocate of gun control I have a safe working environment here I am not telling you to disobey , but I wouldn't shop there. If the store owner requests that the person leave they have to. No laws have been broken yet but as soon as a person refuses to leave it becomes a criminal trespass. Also if the person does not have a CCW permit and they get into the car with the gun a drive away then they in my state just improperly transported a firearm in a motor vehicle. You have brought attention to yourself and your family and made an issue where one could have been avoided. Also think about all the soccer moms and people who believe what they hear and see on radio and t.v. like the blonde State Farm commercial that says it was on the internet and they cant post things on the net that are not true. The man replies where did you hear that and they say together the internet, then walks up the goofy looking male French Model. Those kind of people are out there trust me they are listed as victim / reportee's on my paperwork and there are more of them that you can shake a stick at and they vote. See the trend here, what is legal is not always advisable.
  2. I ended up having some serious light primer strikes with mine. I hated to love that gun, but it was not 100% reliable and I sold it for what I paid for it. I bought a Sig Ultra Compact to replace it. If that XDS would have been reliable it was the perfect little carry pistol accurate and the recoil wasn't that bad.
  3. Yep I've made and seen more than my fair share cry when I put those nice heavy stainless bracelets on them. Last teenybopper that got stupid and ran and hid got some face time / one on one time with a county K-9. That dog got a mouth full when he found him ( felony burglary ) sad thing is that kid still had attitude and it was my fault he got into trouble. When in court and he was sentenced to the states juvenile prison, those big ole crocodile tears just rolled. Sad thing is the K-9 was still licking his ass to get the taste of the teenager out of his mouth. These teen's nowadays are just as violent as some of the habitual drug sellers and users I deal with. I am sad to see any man have this done to them especially a veteran. I hope they find them and make them pay.
  4. Come down here for a visit I can set you up with a shoot. MP-5 SD with Navy Trigger, I do have access to some neat toys, just sayin.
  5. double post sorry
  6. I have a 1 piece aadland mount and never had an issue.
  7. Sorry about the shoulder I've had 2 surgeries on my right one and about to have some kind of arthroscopic on one of my knees.
  8. Ive got a MRX on my duty 5.56 and when I built my friends SASS in .308 I used a MRX not a problem at all. The MRX is a free float quad rail the TRX not so much. I don't like the look of the TRX personally but they use the same lock up.
  9. I'm still debating. My NF sits back over my charging handle on my AR-10 SASS because of my length of pull and being able to hit the cheek weld on the PRS stock correctly. Mine came stock with a after market PRI Gasbuster.
  10. ^^^^^^^ Nothing wrong with a clamp on either a litte blue lock-tite and your good. IMHO an adjustable gas block is only good for those who reload and for suppressor use . Remember the more stuff you add or tinker with can affect reliability.
  11. Why don't you just park the car in the bed of the truck? I am sure it will fit........... <lmao>
  12. I council many a juvenile and your adult as a police officer. The crap these kids are learning from social media, t.v. and school are even making their parent(s) head hurt. There is no accountability, its always someone else's fault they did or did not do something., ( kinda like the current administration ). I call it blame transference syndrome I am not sure if there is a real psychological or medical term, but it makes sense to me. Speaking of which there is also a medical term for everything that allows these kids to act the way they do, such as op-positional defiance disorder? Really they now have a medical term for being disobedient when you need to get your rear smacked? Then I get the whole well they will call children services speech and I have to explain the difference between discipline and abuse. Its a shame the we make so many laws because the sheep want to blame everything on every one else and not be accountable to responsible for their actions and / or spare others feelings. I think the reason you guys are getting the morons are because the decent one are in college or serving in the military.
  13. Its a good thing God made him tough cause he sure as hell didn't make him smart.

  15. Don't stick your arm out of the window, it may cause you to do a U turn. Just sayin lol
  16. LOL that explains the tanks in California, they had to be made out of recycled material and Green Peace complaint.
  17. Glad you enjoyed the movie and not to rain on your parade so to speak. I absolutely refuse to watch movies with actors in them that are anit-gun but act in gun toting movie such as this one or Sniper. Mark Wahlberg ( ? on spelling ) is also a convicted felon. Same with old Sly aka Rambo Mr. Expendable, and Jamie Fox they are also anti-gun.

    I Phone BS

Thats funny I asked about how much wood ect. I sat here and laughed
  19. I don't mind being wrong ( :ifly: ) .when its a simple fix glad you found out what the problem is.
  20. well, I guess it takes the saying, " there'a an app for that " to a different level. It would be fun to mess with at the range and turn some heads, however I wouldn't bet my life on it.
  21. What kind of mags are you running the metal DPMS type or Magpul? Is it only on one mag or all of your mags? If the mag spring is causing the follower to tilt at an odd angle that could cause the brass to get bent up and really drag them on the feed ramps. It could also casue the ejector to not bite onto the case correctly combined with a gas or buffer / spring issue give you the issue you are having. The Magpull mags are the only mag I have seen on the SR-25 / DPMS pattern that solve 100% of the issues FYI.
  22. Call Smith they may charge you a couple of bucks but will send you a new one.
  23. S.A.C. makes GOOD stuff and I think both can learn a little something from each other. I too am glad it wasn't Freedom Group.
  24. crom.a.boo Try the flash bang holster for women and or the belly band from Stoner Holsters or Galco. In stressful situations people have a tendency to grab onto tightly what ever they are holding onto and it reduces your reaction time to the threat. Thats why you see a lot of officers with an interview stance and our hands are free and mid way up. Have you ever practiced getting your gun out of your purse ? Also purse snatchers carry box cutters and they go for the straps and at times work in pairs where one will distract you the other comes from behind and takes the purse with your gun in it, just something to think about. As far as shirts I wear a lot of Harley shirts, imagine that. I wear a uniform and vest for 8.5 hours + a day I like to be comfortable. I carry that XDS I bought for summer wear and riding. During the cooler weather, I wear the nicer Harley long sleeves and various types of sweaters. I carry my 1911 then, being 6'5'' I can hide larger guns pretty well.
  25. I'm thinking it may be these www.saternmachining.com They just happen to be in Iowa and have some of the types of barrels Brownells are selling. I think they might be worthlooking into and they are Military / LEO friendly. OH and they have both SR-25 / DPMS AND Armalite AR-10 Pattern barrels.
