2-stage for distance. Single stage can't even compare to the controllability of a good 2-stage. SSA-E to start you out. You will like it. Once you're addicted, pick up the Hi-Speed DMR, and find another rifle to put the SSA-E into. You won't regret it. <thumbsup>

True, for full-auto weapons. Nothing new can be manufactured after May 1986, unless it's for law enforcement or military, ONLY. No "Citizens." You can manufacture brand new full-auto weapons, but the only people you can sell them to are on-duty LEOs and MIL. As a "Citizen," if you want a full-auto weapon, you need to find something that was manufactured prior to the 19 May 86 cutoff date. That date or before. SBRs, suppressors, SBSs - you can do all that. Just no full-auto for citizens, unless you find an old (VERY EXPENSIVE) firearm.

Every single day. 61 miles to work, one way, on the motorcycle most days, no retention strap, no loose pistols - ever. Like Rob says, my 4" 1911 is in a Mernickle high-rider holster. My 4" XD45 is in a Mernickle high-rider holster. ZERO worries about those pistols coming out if I don't want them to. ZERO. The XDS is in a Tagua holster, and it's not coming out either.

By the way, Spike's Tactical already does an adaptor for rifle receiver extensions and carbine buffers. It's on their website somewhere. They made that for people to run their ST-T2 powdered tungsten buffer in a rifle stock. Stacking quarters is cheaper, though. The weight is negligible, since it's all the way at the back of the stock - it's not "swing-weight" in any way. You won't even notice it. <thumbsup>

Measure the overall length of the rifle buffer. Measure the overall length of a carbine buffer. Record the difference. Stack quarters to equal that distance. Insert that amount of quarters - first - into the receiver extension, then insert spring, then insert carbine buffer. Done. Rifle stock with carbine buffer, and it'll work like a champ for you. That's what we do with pistol-caliber ARs. On the .45 ACP AR and the 9mm AR, it takes 7 quarters to make up the difference between the length of a dedicated (longer) pisol-cal buffer and a H3 carbine buffer. <thumbsup>

Eh, not really. You get used to is being there, and develop ways to accomplish your work with a long gun attached to you. After awhile, you won't even notice it's there - or you know it's there and it doesn't hinder what you need to do in any way. Prime example - military deployments. That thing is on you 24/7, no matter what you need to accomplish. Once you run a few long obstacle courses with a rifle on you, you realize that you can still do whatever you need to, but sometimes you have to change the way you do some things.
