I added a rail capability to my 45-70 lever gun and the M1 Carbine, just so I could mount a mini red dot to them. They look like this (because I can't find pics of them right now):

^^^ True - biggest thing for me is I don't have to get a custom-manufactured barrel, and I don't have to modify a die set, with reforming/reloading dies already available. Oh, and I don't have to do anything to the brass, besides neck it up - unlike the process for 300BLK that I have to do.

I did snatch the upper receiver and rail for this build today. 18" barrel will be next week, as well as the RCBS die set. Let's get this caliber going, men!

^^^ This right here is hands-down the best advice, ever. Consult multiple sources, when starting, because you'll find different information for a given load. There ARE exceptions to that, though - I will take the word of Barnes Bullets and use the Barnes Load Manual exclusively, for their projectiles.

From what I've been reading, this cartridge was never designed as a long(er) distance round - just a hunting round. Anything out there with a high BC is going to have a good taper to it. There aren't many .25-caliber heavy projos that don't have a higher BC, and the taper that goes with it. So, as a hunting round, with the lighter projos available, this still has some pretty impressive punch.

Freedom Group, under Remington's name, bought out Marlin Firearms in 2007. In 2007... This is very old news. Soros didn't have shiit to do with it...

I'm not sure about this specific caliber, but midlength gas on an 18" 5.56 barrel is pretty nice.

I found 2 x 20" barrels in stock, 2 x 18" in stock, and 2 x 16" in stock. Thinking about 18" for this one.

Couple other things, that came way before adjustable gas block and adjustable gas systems (carrier keys) became mainstream, were modified gas tubes. PRI does the Fat Boy, and several manufacturers do a pigtail gas tube. Same principle for modifying gas that gets to the carrier key, just in a different way. More volume = more time before pressure peaks to the point of starting the carrier movement rearward and the bolt-unlocking process. Been looking at this cartridge - and looking for barrels. With Lee already making a die set, this is something that's been on my mind since I did the .338 Fed.

What color did you have them Cerakoted, Jim? If it's a standard color and not a custom-mixed color, I'm getting ready for a Cerakote Frenzy on some shiit, and I can paint up a few mags for you.

That's a mis-packaged .936" gas block. Brownell's will take care of you.
