  1. The cone in the KX3 is almost the diameter of the whole device. It threads in from the front, so it's just slightly smaller than the OD of the whole thing. There's plenty of room to machine the hole up to 3/8"~10mm.
  2. No, no, no, no. Hell no, we're not talking about "Tom" here. I didn't bring this up!!! The OP needs to spring for this schit! :rant2:
  3. Used all Aervoe paints for the Savage FV-SR paintjob, and this poor little rifle has been run through the ringer. No rubbing off, no major marks, and Jake has used it for 5 Appleseed Shoots. He beat the schit out of the flip-up scope caps, and they're broken off now, but it's holding up extremely well. Can't remember when I painted this, but it's been several years now. Search out "Sponge Camo" and it will give you an idea of how to do this "pattern." This was the first time I'd done it, and it came out just the way I wanted.
  4. Norinco MAK-90 on the AK-type. Damn thing shoots very well, too. You're under 2,300fps at 39.1gr, and just over 2,300fps at 39.6gr. Get it closer to 2,400fps and see how it does. Max charge listed in the Hornady #9 is 41.3gr = 2,400fps for IMR 4064. Give it a shot. Literally... <lmao>
  5. Yep. You should look at one of the two-piece rail systems, too, unless you want to unpin and remove that FSB. You'll have to take it off if you get a one-piece rail system.
  6. That's his, so I'll ask him. I know he bought that thing from a neighbor that had no idea what it was worth - he got it for $150.
  7. These guys are saying artillery fire on an ammo dump: http://republicbroadcasting.org/ukraine-artillery-fire-not-tactical-nuke-attack-sets-off-large-donetsk-explosion/
  8. I hope that's not what it was. Use of a nuke would be bad - for the whole world...
  9. Hit the range today - my buddy wanted to bring his girlfriend out and get her comfortable with some 9mm. We mostly shot pistol, but I dragged out The Usual Suspects... We ended up shooting pistol at 15 yards, and she was doing DAMN well! She made some good progression today. However, I decided her target needed some .45 ACP headshots... <lmao> My buddy was working completely on left-hand shooting, and did pretty well with his .45. I decided it needed some headshots, too... <laughs> Great afternoon in the desert. <thumbsup>
  10. THAT ^^^ is the proper way to abide by The Rule... :hethan: Hell yes, Brother Mike! Awesome work, my good man. :hail:
  11. MLRS - bad news if you're on the wrong end of it. EDT - Just noticed that this was in the Industry section - we should probably move this thread to the General section ...
  12. You can easily generate enough heat through shooting to melt loc-tite. RockSett takes 1,500 degrees to melt, but is about the holding equivalent of blue loc-tite.
  13. ^^^ Timing shims, I have seen. Hadn't seen peel washers, though. Makes sense, they don't crush.
  14. Rory is using the AP lower. Like to hear what the other combo is - the other guy's rifle.
  15. Those 150s with 43.5 look good, too - bump up a batch to 44.0 and give it a try. <thumbsup>
  16. You may be the first to have to try that out. I'm certain that there isn't anybody on this site that's done it. Check other boards, though, because someone out there might be fed up enough to have done this.
  17. NO. No Loc-Tite! Use a crush washer or peel washer if it's not going to be a suppressor host. Mount it directly to the barrel (machining might be required to time it) if it will be a suppressor host. Use RockSet if it's going to be a suppressor host.
  18. The rail should not have contact with the front sight tower, if you're talking about the handguard. As far as rear receiver height, and rear sight mount, you can adjust for that small difference via front sight height adjustment.
  19. DAMN!!! That's a great deal. <thumbsup>
  20. No - no need. It's old. If it was linked here, it would be perfect. All the info available from one thread, with a link.
  21. Yes, it is. <thumbsup>
  22. On the first one, I used air-dry only. That was the BCM Jack copy that I built. Cerakote Sniper Gray. All I did for prep was etch the hell out of the upper and lower with some meanass shop degreaser - which ate annodizing. Sprayed it on, let it cure, assembled. It only takes 24 hours for it to cure enough to assemble parts. For application, I used a cheap, disposable air spray setup that I picked up at Ace Hardware. The next two I did were bake-on Cerakote. I put those parts in the sandblast cabinet and took them to bare, silver aluminum. Sprayed, baked, and assembled as soon as they were cooled down. Those two were Sexual Chocolate and the Ghost Gun. For application of these ones, I picked up a decent (CHEAP!) airbrush gun at Harbor Freight.
  23. Any rear sight will work - pick what you like the best, and it will run with that front sight. <thumbsup>
  24. Don't count on the range marks being accurate on the .308 ARs. They're pretty damn accurate on 5.56, though.
  25. Hope you don't get Effed in the Aaaay on it. <thumbsup>
