wetncold
Agent Orange exposure has pretty much wrecked my life. Besides the 2 liver transplants, I am diabetic. As such I have neuropathy, or no feeling in my feet, except pain. I tend to drag my left big toe. I have very little strength in it and it tends to hang down. Friday, after getting ready for our fish gathering, I was walking out of the bedroom and heard a pop. I looked down because it sounded like I stepped on a big, juicy bug. But no, I actually broke the end of my toe off. No just broke it, but it was like I snapped a banana off and the only thing holding it was the skin on the bottom of my toe. Never hurt any at all. It just so happened my wife was home. She bandaged it up after almost fainting and off to the ER we went. Xrays showed it broken just above the joint. Dr. sewed it back on and I didn't even get a numbing shot. That's how bad my neuropathy is. Anyway, if any of you have neuropathy or know someone who does, tell them to watch it. I go to the ortopedic surgeon Wednesday and fing out if he will splint it or take it off. As for me, I'd rather keep it. It has gone everywhere with me and I'd hate to end this long relationship! blue109
That sucks man, and close to home. My pops is the toughest SOB I've ever met, but I think I'm going to loose him soon to agent orange. He's fought off 3 different cancers over the past few decades but his current bladder cancer has him out of commission. Strange that the corporation that created one of the most toxic compound in history is currently monopolizing the world's food industry. DNP
Damn man. Take care of yourself. I agree, you owe it to the toe to try to keep him with his family. Good luck with the surgeon. Thoughts and prayers your way!
2336
Damn! I'm sorry to hear that but glad to hear that you prevailed. My Dad was a victim of Agent Orange and ended up dying from Pulmonary Fibrosis. The local doctor kept diagnosing him with bronchitus, which he never recovered from! Finally a young, hot-shot doctor in the University of Pittsburgh got the diagnosis right. Unfortunately it was too late. My father passed on the Marine Corps birthday 1990, while I was in the Gulf during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. wetncold, please be careful. From one vet to another, we talk a mighty game but we're getting old and brittle. Be careful bro! I miss my Dad!

Sisco
A fellow used to work for me, Ex Marine, was in the Da Nang area, ended up at the brouhaha at Khe Sanh, just had his third bout of Chemotherapy for a form of leukemia. Said when the C123's came over spraying he could feel the mist on his face. Hang in there Wet, you still have things to enjoy outta this life. jtallen83
Hope the toe can hang out with you a while longer, never know when you'll need to put your foot up someone's a$$! My dad is dealing with a the does of agent orange he got while in Vietnam. Three bouts with two types of cancer and the same loss of feeling in his feet and lower legs. When he doesn't use the VA docs he seems to get better.............. Now we trust the same company when they tell us there are no issues with GMO foods......... wetncold
The VA can suck it as far as I'm concerned. Went to them when this all started and they gave me a glucose meter and test strips. Then they sent me a bill for $175! I didn't pay it and they took it out of my tax refund. No more VA for me.

Of course they were told then "Nope, nothing to worry about. Doesn't affect humans, only plants." He too has diabetes now.

He listened to the run-around for about 10 min and walked out. He recently tried again, and they handed him a phone book size pile of forms. He dropped them in the trash on the way out. I've never registered with VA because I don't trust them or the shitbags they work for.
