That's all IMHO tho I fully agree with you on this. Since licensed open carry has recently passed here in Texas I've had numerous conversations with people both for and against it. My response is that although I will personally choose not to open carry, I feel equally as strong about everybody simply having the right to choose. WTF ? Sounds like more than one of his Constitutional rights were violated . I have to agree with you also. I can see however why a dispatcher would rather error on the side of caution and roll a unit out to see if the person was walking around with 2 heads or something but other than that the dispatcher AND the responding officer should've thereafter told the caller that there is no law(s) prohibiting the wearing of weapons along with camo clothing. Absolutely ridiculous.

Rsquared
Amen brother. It seems like most people are of the mind-set that things should be handed to them. And don't even get me started on saying how people are just down right dumb these days. I've said many times, as humans (as a race) get smarter.....the individuals are getting dumber. I just don't get it do they not teach history in school anymore do kids even know what the constitution is? 25-30 years ago nobody really cared if you walked in to a business carrying a long arm, or had one in the gun rack covering the rear window of your pickup, etc., It was common-place and people weren't alarmed by it because they simply saw it ALL THE TIME. Teenagers were seen in open possession of firearms (in Texas it was always just long-arms) during hunting season. Nobody ever worried about this. School shootings, drive-by(s), etc., were never heard of. The closet-communist liberals have been able to successfully erode the positive attitude we once had nationally towards firearms to the point that common display of such firearms was no longer considered acceptable or "cool", and/or because you were afraid of the rampant theft that came along in the 80(s), folks started to conceal their weapons. Once out of sight over an extended period of time, the visibility of firearms, lending to the commonality of firearms, disappeared. Later, in comes a younger, newer, and somewhat brainwashed generation(s) that freaked-out and panicked whenever they did see firearms displayed in such a manner. Open display of any firearm(s) is something dangerous to them that should not be seen or even possessed, thus lending to the success of the seditious liberals. It will take a long time to re-establish the older norms and change these attitudes back to the way they once were, and should be, and until such time we will have to endure the sheer ignorance of the 9-1-1 caller in the narrative above. I cringe when I think of how may children she may have raised to be just like her.

Rsquared
In Maryland........yes Maryland. When I was younger (much younger these days). Guys could walk with shotguns "broken open" and nobody would even pay attention to them. Usually in the somewhat wooden areas. But even down a suburban street that I grew up on. Guys could even walk around with long rifles (shouldered....or muzzle down) and nobody would pay attention. With the long rifles.....people just figured that we were just a bunch of kids playing around....or properly supervised (meant we had our ass beat into knowing better)....and would go on their way. PG County police (if we happened to walk by) would usually talk to us about the type of rifle that we were "practicing" with. Some of those guys were the coolest (as local LE should be) guys that you could ever want to deal with. No scaring. No intimidating. No threatening. Just cool ordinary guys. Now, keep in mind, that this was the 70's and early 80's that I'm talking about. And if you tried to do this today in PG County of the "free state".......you'd have at least a dozen county cruisers surround you within moments. Times change. And not always for the better (as we all know). But I'll never forget some of the friendly faces (of LEO's) that I saw as a young man (read as kid) when I had a rifle on my shoulder. And they were simply talking to me...and not feeling threatened.....cause I was just a young, stupid kid. Just learning about the power that I held in my hands. And those guys were always friendly. So keep in mind that my fuked up state at one time was more than kinda friendly. Even if it has become one of the more socialist state's in the union. Sorry to say. Those times are long gone. That's all IMHO tho That is exactly why more people need to exercise their right to open carry, and do it often - in order to educate the idiots, and make them aware that it's perfectly fucking legal. When the idiots see more open carry, more often, it won't seem so "strange" to them. The most common question I get when I open carry is, "Is that a Glock 17?!" My typical answer is, "fornicate no, it's not a Glock-anything - it's a Springfield XD-45. God hates Glock fags, you dumbass!" <lmao> Just kidding - some Glock carrying people are cool.

You are correct. FUBAR+++++ By comparison to your childhood, and mine, just this week, some busybody neighbor called the cops because an 11-year-old boy had been AT HOME in his own back yard by himself for one-and-a-half hours. Cops came. CPS picked up the kid and took him away, as well as (later on) his younger sibling. Parents had apparently talked to the kid by phone, and had been delayed doing some errands. Kids apparently spent a few days in foster care. Jeez, my parents would be in prison for what they allowed me to do! This is insanity! I don't know what's worse...losing your kids over 90 minutes alone or the parents who lost their kids for letting them walk to the park alone to play. A few weeks a go there was a tiny buzz about a guy who brought an AR into the airport in GA. was only a big deal for a day. Like the boy who cried wolf, but in a good way. People are less alarmed. Maybe they don't approve, and think it's just another idiot, but they aren't freaking out about it as much. Maybe one had nothing to do with the other, but maybe it did. EngrBob
AMEN BROTHER! Make weapons a part of everyday life and everyday life will be safer! Perhaps then at 21 everyone goes through mandatory gun safety/carry training and, assuming you don't have a DSM-V diagnosis, you must open carry when outside of your residence. I believe this will cut down on a lot of petty crime as well as making crime when others are likely present far more unlikely.

planeflyer21
Only problem with that is you'll have the "Screw training for my RIGHTS" crowd up in arms. Dollar for dollar tax breaks for all firearms training. Who doesn't like paying less taxes?
