98Z5V
More important than weapons retention - they MUST practice weapons proficiency. After fully proficient, retention is the next thing. You must master both. Both skills fade with lack of training, too.

They should be able to assume that everyone is armed and knows what to do when approached or stopped for a traffic violation. For example, anyone in Texas can carry a weapon in a car; however, only those with a CHL receive any training on how to react to a traffic stop. I would prefer that law enforcement not have to approach an unknown situation and frankly have no issue with conforming to an accepted procedure in such a situation. Then again, I have never been arrested or stopped for a moving violation so I don't have any experience. <dontknow>

Rarely, do i find people im comfortable shooting next to at the range, let alone one who i believe is proficient enough to carry on the daily. But then again, im a coaster.. jtallen83
Youd think itd be mandatory. But then again, im a coaster.. It is mandatory, if you are a responsible person. It is a personal responsibility and should have no place in any government rule, regulation, or law. They are incompetent. That's the part I'm not comfortable with It's not just uncomfortable but down right dangerous to give this kind of authority to any government. Matt.Cross
There's a difference between a legislative mandatory and a moral mandatory. I'd prefer to conform to the latter to eliminate the possibility of the former.

Matt.Cross
Sadly a lot of today's society don't have/know what morals are I'm very much agreed with you on that front. Sadly, we live in a society that encourages quiet hypocrisy in the name of tolerance, and attempts to bully anyone that doesn't assimilate with them into complete silence. I refuse to remain silent. Magwa
I agree with you 100% we have to get these new young hunters off their asses and out of their treestands and into Appleseed shoots and into the woods to learn real life woods skills not this TV hunting Bull$hit they are getting now! As a child I wanted to go to the woods to learn now a days these kids watch high fence hunting shows and learn that the size of the rack is all that matters, they learn it is ok to shoot a animal and leave it in the woods all night because you are not sure of the hit... total garbage 95% of animals left in the woods will spoil period no wonder people don't like the taste of venison people learning how to hunt from TV do not know how to take care of it! FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK this $hit pisses me off!
planeflyer21
/\/\/\/\ Yup. Nothing more irritating that watching Joe Sponsored "Hunter" shoot a deer in the gut, get high-5ed by his crew for his "great shot", then leave the deer to suffer because it's too dark to track. Asshats.
jtallen83
My Father would have kicked my arse if I stopped looking because it got dark. :bat: The only break we took before the deer was hanging was for one of us to go back to town, get more batteries, and call for more help. A gut shot was worse than a miss in his book......... Damn Outdoor channel schit........... Edited July 2, 2015 by jtallen83

I think the social & political environments today are giving us a unique (I pray this doesn't become norm) opportunity to teach our kids about personal responsibility, the value of our rights, independent thought, and the importance of what is going on around you. So many good examples in the news of ignorance/stupidity. ...Not to mention how good it feels to drill your target right where your aiming.
