Hi All.

I'm new to this site and forums.  I have an AR in 5.55 and started to venture into the 308 world.  So I've been shopping around.  Was going to go stripped lower and build one, but came across a used one yesterday that I'm going to pick up on Saturday.

Are there any DPMS experts around?  This is a couple of year old model LR-308.  Were there different variations?  It looks exactly like the top picture here when looking at the GII lineage. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/01/14/dpms-308-gen-ii/

It was originally sold by this shop to someone who would take it out every once in a while.  Looked in great shape.  Comes NJ compliant with a pinned muzzle brake and fixed stock, 3 p-mags and a hard plano case.

What are your thoughts on value?

First off welcome to the mad house!

The forward assist will be at the back of the upper on a GII. The LR-308 (there is no GenI) forward assist is right behind the brass deflector. It's actually built into the brass deflector. It has a single ejector pin on the bolt face.

I can't comment on the value of a GenII as I just bought a brand new LR-308 Oracle. And for a price that would make most on here jump on it like I did. :-)

So what model exactly is it?   they gotta know        Wash

So does the carry handle come off?  and its a flat top upper?     gotta have that for sure...cause then you are gonna want to put a free float rail and optics on it right?  lol       so after taxes you got a 1000 used gun      Wash

Yup - carry handle comes off, ready for optics...All in (taxes and nics) would be just under a 1000, but supply is limited around here.  The best new 308 I can find that is NJ legal is the M&P10 - and the cheapest I can find it for is 1400...Anything else will have the NJ modification tax (buy muzzle brake, throw away flash hider, permanently weld muzzle brake to the threads, pin adjustable buttstock from a gunsmith) which would probably put me in the 1400-1500 range...

Eventually I'd love to save up for a real nice LaRue or Barrett, but unfortunately that's not happening right now (nor in the near 20 year future until kids grow up).

I can build one in NJ (just not from an 80%).

Building is still an option, but not sure of my skills with the build.  Would probably have to invest in a lot of lower parts' springs in case they go shooting across the room and I can't find them.

Most companies won't ship "banned" parts to nj, so that kind of limits me.  And time is not my friend.

NJ is a different story from Texas we can buy a new LR308 Oracle new in the box for $700. The one I have is one built in Nov. 2014.  It was built a couple weeks before I bought it. Not gen II.

Mr, Mac I bet ours have real close serial numbers. My Oracle is a 2014 vintage also.
