Fletch
Hello all, New guy here from Central Illinois (Peoria area). I mostly shoot for recreation and enjoyment, but certainly am always trying to improve my skills and get better. I've never been a fan of the .223/5.56 round but have always been a fan of the AR platform. I shoot a lot of 6.8 SPC (fantastic round IMO) but my favorite all around gun is my 308AR. It's nice to see the increasing variety of parts, etc. available for 308AR's now than what I remember even just a few years back. I finally learned to build my own AR's a few years ago thanks in no small part to the forums like this one...so I would like to say thanks for all the info/advice that you guys have put out there. I still hope to learn more of course and also to share any of my experiences if they seem relevant and helpful. Thanks again! Glad to be here! Wolfgang1952
Welcome from Louisiana. I for one never liked the AR. I remember the early ones to much. I to prefer the 308 over the 5.56/223. I went from M1A’s and FAL’s to a DPMS AR10 clone. Wolf

I'm originally from the Chicago area (which totally blows IMO) so I'm very glad to be here as opposed to there. One of these days I'll be free from Illinois all together but for now I must make do. 11 hours ago, shepp said: It's flat as a pan cake and corn as far as the eye can see Pretty much. Thankfully I live in one of the hilly, wooded areas here. Lucky also to have a lot of good neighbors and other decent folks out in my area as well. Thanks to all for the warm welcomes...glad to be here!

mrmackc
I used to work part-time for a farm supply company in Oklahoma and would pick up Butler buildings at Galesburg. They had a heck of a good loading crew. I would back a flatbed semi trailer down in a loading dock and a guy with a remote control connected to a over head crane would go all over the building picking up building parts and load them on the flatbed. I would haul the building to a farm and the farm supply crew would erect the building. I never saw one time when we failed to have every part, beam, siding, door or bolt we needed.
