Howdy Y'all

I have been lurking around on this Forum for about six months, watching and seeing how the on-line community here interacts.  I have to tell you, you all are a good group to talk and listen to I think, even though I have just been listening up to now.  I also am pretty sure there is a really broad knowledge base for the 308 AR platform (and AR-15 as well) here, and I really admire and respect the way you guys share what you know.  From my listening I have already learned a great deal.  I am a native Texan, served my military duty around  the world and got back home as quick as I could.  I used the M-16 when I was working for Uncle Sam, but I was a user, not an Armorer, and I did not have an opportunity to pick up many of the fine points you guys discuss.  Besides that, back in the early 70's there were only M16A2 where I was, or if you just had to have a .30 you could usually scrounge up an M14.  But woe be to him that made unnecessary work for said armorer, and we were seriously discouraged from building our own custom mouse guns!  Anyway, since I got back home it has been all bolt guns in larger calibers and hunting.  I didn't get the AR bug until after San Bernadino, but that terror attack got my attention.  I decided I needed an AR-15 pattern rifle, and quickly found a damn nice Armalite M15A10T that shoots bugholes.  According to my better half it has been all downhill since then - I have now acquired an Armalite M15A4, a Seekins SP-10 in .308 and an early PWS MK214 Mod 0 with a tight 7.62x51 NATO chamber.  All these rifles are shooters!  Last, I have another early PWS from 2009 on the way down from Idaho.  It is built like a MK114 Mod 0, but on a STS billet lower and a VLTOR MUR upper.  Maybe I'm done, but I doubt it, LOL.  I am starting to get the urge to build something myself.  Well I have carried on too long here, hope I'm not boring y'all to sleep.  Thanks to all for creating this forum!  Tom in Cowtown

Welcome from Iowa! Sounds like a really nice collection in a short time, love my Armalites' as well but have really enjoyed the ground up builds I've done with the help of my friends here. It might be a sickness but it's a healthy one!

True a short time for that collection, but I had not bought a new rifle for like five years or so and I was saving up for some kind of custom bolt gun with nice walnut and all that goes with that game.  But those "pretty" rifles just don't seem like they are as useful when ISIS is coming for our heads.  These days I feel like I have to arm myself and the rest of my family for what may come.  The politicians sure aren't doing their "protect" job very well, so we all need to be prepared as well as possible, no?
