98Z5V Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) Gene Wilder, comedic genius, has passed at age 83. Rest In Peace, my good man. You provided the world with much needed laughter, in a unique way that nobody else could, or will. Edited August 30, 2016 by 98Z5V
slugger43 Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) Another one of the truly great ones is gone. Ain't gonna see his like any time soon. Brightened a lot of my days. RIP Nasty to see a genius mind like his succumb to Alzheimers Edited August 30, 2016 by slugger43
MikedaddyH Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 I was going to put it in the dead pool thread. I saw the Willie Wonka movie when I was a kid with my dad.

EngrBob Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles are my two favorite comedies of all time, largely because of Wilder's performances. He will be missed.

I remember watching it on a short day of school in 2nd grade, think it was the first time watching a movie in school may have not been but it sticks out in my mind! He will be greatly missed
jtallen83 Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 My grandfather and Uncle took me to Blazing Saddles when I was 9 years old, an eye opening experience for a 9 year old to say the least. Can't decide if Gene was a trailblazer or a throwback........maybe a bit of both.
Sisco Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) A great comedian and actor. Just walked away from Hollywood in his prime. Vaya Con Dios Mr. Wilder, thanks for what you gave us. Edited August 31, 2016 by Sisco
planeflyer21 Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Just read he died from Alzheimer's. Never made it public because he felt it wouldn't help the cause. We just watched Young Frankenstein. Never realized Wilder helped Mel Brooks write it.
Rsquared Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 You know how it's pronounced............Fronk-en-steen! Fukin hilarious to this day. He was a classic.
beantown Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 He was one of my favorite. I don't know of a movie of his I didn't like. Truly one of the greats. RIP Mr. Wilder. "The sheriff is here."

You are so right. In my case one to Alzheimer's, also one to dementia. This evil thing is like losing your loved ones not once, but repeatedly.
unforgiven Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 Then you are penalized again if you have a strong heart, you linger longer. God bless the caregivers. The 2 are so similar they are 1 in my opinion. And least I forget Gene was a very funny and bighearted guy. God has another jester in heaven.
