I've been in Mandan, ND, and something like Pueblo, Co should feel warmer for you in the winter time. In fact, Flagstaff, Az should feel warmer in the dead of winter. Those 5 days ther was like living in a walk in freezer.

It was already mentioned there are many Liberals there, and I know they have gun lovers also, but I'd check the laws first. I came from a Liberal controlled state, and now it feels like the chock chain was removed.

That libtard tendency from the state is a big hangup for me....

I try to mention about northern AZ, or somewhere like that, but keep getting comments about too much heat from my wife. This is nothing more than a start,  beginning,  or exploration of possibilities anyway.

The cost of living in Pueblo is what started this particular looksie into the place.

The main reason for starting this search is getting to a more temperate climate area, someplace way more accommodating to motorcycle riding year round, and where we can live reasonably for the last 1/2 of our lives.

I am open to suggestions from those who know/have been there/live there...."there" being the type of area one can live in and still live without too much worry.

My dream town.

Another "blue island" in Arizona.  It almost connects to the island in Prescott.

Hurry up and move there so we can at least make it purple.

Lived in Colorado (Evergreen, west of Denver) for many years but back in the 80s.  It is scenically beautiful but it has been changing rapidly since pot became legal for recreational use (at least according to friends that still live there).  Winters can be bad in Pueblo.  There are some red areas in West Texas that might suit you better, actually many red areas outside of El Paso, Lubbock and San Antonio.  These all have a better climate but are not as scenically pleasing (except for areas around Alpine and Fort Davis).

Had a nephew just move back to Iowa from there, said it has literally gone to pot. Rent and taxes increase while schools and infrastructure go to hell. He said the communist own it all now.

Idaho would be great, save the climate isn't much different than where I am at.  winters still suck there.....looking for something that is more temperate than our northern hemispheres.

Taking everything in guys, keep the comments coming!

The only blue spot was that area around (Blue109, to Judge Ron to Plane flyer to Beaches dads house.) Surrounded the  U of Arizona pretty well. The Dems are a minority everywhere else in the state.

If you're wanting to stay somewhere in that area take a look at the Farmington, NM area. Still close to the Colorado Rockies AND to S.E. Utah which is great for motorcycle riding. I know, I've spent time up there on my bike!

The climate in Idaho is where you want to live I live,I live at 1400 ft elevation and have mild winters , long garden seasons and am only 1/2 hour from wilderness, it is not all doom and gloom here or severe weatherI moved from north Idaho to avoid the hard winters and now enjoy life with all the other benefits Idaho gives...

I am keeping all the suggestions in mind, and jettisoning any CO ideas.

This isn't a speedy process anyway, it is more like a 5 year plan for us.  and alot can change in 5 years.....
