Boot_Scraper Posted October 8, 2018 Report Posted October 8, 2018 Been itchin for a G2 Compact Hunter for some time. Any thoughts floating around on these rifles? Couldn't find much in the DPMS section.
edgecrusher Posted October 8, 2018 Report Posted October 8, 2018 They seem to be fine. No one has really had any substantial complaints other than early on a lack of support in the aftermarket.
Boot_Scraper Posted October 9, 2018 Author Report Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) Priced out a build based on an Ascend Armory upper/lower. Probably put the Faxon pencil in this. Cheaper to build it....but do I "need" more than on 308AR??? Edited October 9, 2018 by Boot_Scraper

Asking silly questions like "do I need more than one". My last count was 6 of them (all different of course). 5 Armalite's and 1 Black Rain (that I still haven't assembled yet). Think of it as options. When they're built for specific purposes, they tend to do the job better. You can go from shorter ones designed and built for kicking in doors and clearing, to longer ones designed to plant on a hilltop and take out targets on the opposing hilltop. It's all in what you build them for, and what you expect to do with them.
Magwa Posted October 13, 2018 Report Posted October 13, 2018 look above this post and read that post ....... yep that!

Start off with that Ascend upper and lower (what's a good light weight upper/lower set?) with one of those carbon Easter basket handguards from Brigand. The PA10 might get a 20 inch pipe later on. I'll be sure to keep y'all updated. Edited October 14, 2018 by Boot_Scraper
Rsquared Posted October 14, 2018 Report Posted October 14, 2018 Sounds like you're on it Boot. You're on the right track to build a hunting weapon. Light and maneuverable. Others around here know better about hunting than I do. Magwa is pretty much our expert hunter around here. I think he uses a standard 16" DPMS carbine. But he can talk WAY more knowledgeable on this topic than I could.
Boot_Scraper Posted October 15, 2018 Author Report Posted October 15, 2018 OH sh!t. This might get out of hand. Leanin' towards a 2A Xanthos build. It's only money, right??

Boot_Scraper Posted October 15, 2018 Author Report Posted October 15, 2018 FUGG IT!! I just clicked the order button on an Xanthos upper/lower set.
DNP Posted October 15, 2018 Report Posted October 15, 2018 You know you ain't supposed to shop on the Internet when you e been drinking....don't let em store your CC number. And if you have it memorized it's time for a new one. Lock that thing up when you're "researching"...lol.

RobPLSCA Posted January 4, 2019 Report Posted January 4, 2019 So the OP asked if he needs more than one... The consensus is "YES!" The important question is "How many do I need?" I believe the answer may be "One more!"
Armed Eye Doc Posted January 4, 2019 Report Posted January 4, 2019 My answer to how many has always been: I'm trying to acquire my fair share and I'm not there yet.
Magwa Posted January 4, 2019 Report Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) It is only money and any money that allows you to get Elk and Deer is money well spent, you are going to need a 308 and a 6.5 creedmoor a couple of really good triggers and scopes and a Acc 7.62SDN-6 to go on them and then a Gator forend and well I will think of more later ... think Light then shave every living OZ. you can you will smile later.. then you will be doing the happy dance... Boot_Scraper Posted January 4, 2019 Author Report Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) The seed of G2 turned into an "uber expensive" build. But, GD i love hunting with this thing. Hope to set it on a deer vs tree soon. @Magwa Congrats on the bull. That's beautiful. Edited January 4, 2019 by Boot_Scraper
