These won't be sold less than what they go for in a .mil contract, and alot of people lose sight of that - they CAN'T be sold less. Can't sell them to civilians for less than what you sell them to .mil for.  That's why everyone shiit their pants about a $15k KAC M110, and the full "M110 package" for $25K.  Hey, you want it, you have to pay .mil pricing...  No other legal way for the company to do it...

The fact that one has the Geissele trigger is nice. I have heard the original SCAR17 triggers were not great. Robert, what's your opinion of it?

and this is one of the many problems with out government today. They let companies take advantage of them and pay stupid prices for everything. and people wonder why our budgets are always so fcked up. on my interstate, a 3 foot guard rail piece costs about $3,000 and the guard rail ends which are 2 feet long cost about $5,000. Why? it is just metal that doesn't have to be produced at aerospace standards or anything. It is because the government is willing to pay that much because they can and it is the tax payers that suffer. No private company or individual would ever be taken advantage of like the government is on being over charged for stuff, it just isn't productive. You would think if someone gets a government contract, they would be selling it at discount to the government because they are selling quantity. Common business, making money off the volume. But instead those with these contracts sell at increased price and increased volume. I think if the government had some business sense on all things they purchase or contract out, this country would be able to start getting rid of its debt and maybe our taxes would go down also. And dare I dream that as a state employee I would make the same amount or more than most contracted workers that work on our roadways, instead of even the damn sign holders making more money than me.

Ok, rant over.

Lawyers! That is why that schit costs so much. The government has to constantly test and update what is allowed in use due to lawsuits. The installers have to continually defend themselves in lawsuits, proving they installed it correctly per specifications. I hate having guardrail on a job, bridge rail is even worse. Suppliers need to keep inventory on hand for repairs but the specs are ever changing so large chunks of inventory can become worthless with the stroke of a bureaucrats pen. And that ridiculous cable system they put in the median of interstates, if the public really understood what that is about they would scream for heads!  If they would leave it alone and let Darwin do his work we would be money ahead.:soap:

That's just how the unions help their buddies.

My agency has a union and it is great for us. They are the only thing that protects us against stupid politics from within and outside the agency. We had a 6 year pay freeze, but the union helped change that. The union protects us when supervisors want to try and get rid of someone for stupid reasons or politics needs to "sacrifice" someone.

There is bad within ours even, but we are worse off without it.

Oh I know. and everytime someone hits one it turns a possible runoff vehicle with no damage into a crash. meaning a pay out to someone and more work for me on the road.
