Robocop1051 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Date of Incident: 21 September 2013 Time of Incident: 11:34 p.m. Fallen Officer's Name: Jon Coutchie Agency: Laguna Beach Police Department Cause of Death: Collision with pickup truck while responding to call Circumstances: Laguna Beach Police Department Officer Jon Coutchie was riding his departmental motorcycle n/b on Pacific Coast Hwy responding to a call. As he approached the intersection of Cleo Street a pickup truck, driven by a 20 year old male, turned left into the path of the officer. Officer Coutchie collided with the passenger side of the truck and sustained fatal injuries. Laguna Beach PD requested departmental assistance. Capistrano Area and Border Division MAIT responded to the scene. There is no indication the driver of the truck was under the influence. Officer Coutchie was a 6 year veteran of the Laguna Beach PD. He was single with no family in the immediate area.

Pappy1600 Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends, I was told many years ago from an old timer when I first started, "You are no good if you don't make it there" , It is a dangerous job and anything can happen at any moment, I hate seeing all the LODD out there, I have lost friends on the job also for stupid mistakes that could have been prevented.
