spanky316
i decided to try my hand at building a 308 ar in as much as palmetto started carrying the parts . I bought all the parts from psa with the exception of the bcg. the problem i am having is that when the bolt goes forward and strips a round out of the mag it seems to be slowing down too much causing a failure to go into battery. the headspace was checked and is within spec and the bolt is going all the way into battery when the chamber is empty. any advise would be appreciated as im still very new to this arena. blue109
there are a few PSA threads right now...and none of them good. looks like they have some work to do to get these rifles sorted out. what BCG are you using? brand/platform/coatings? From the sounds of your post, you're doing this in your house, trying to function-check this thing - on a bone-dry build. In the living room. You need to lube the hell out of it and shoot it with some commercial (known good) ammo. Get a couple hundred rounds down the pipe, and report the results. Unless I'm way off in my interpretation of your post...
AdamO
<thumbsup> Get you some Rem Oil in a spray can and coat that bolt the way a woman uses hairspray!
washguy
Spanky are you letting go of the charging handle and not "riding" it back? Lube for sure and then there's the PSA problems.....Yikes ! :) Wash

spanky316
naw im not riding it up, but i havent lubed it quite as much as the two previous post suggest. i think most of my problem is going to be psa getting into the ar10 bizz though from what im reading now. im gonna soak her down this weekend and reevaluate. 98Z5V
$hit, that's how the Harley's are - you have to pour a 1/2 quart of 20w50 under them before you start 'em, just so they're comfortable... <lmao>
planeflyer21
<laughs> Dude on another forum went to a motorcycle show and took photos of all the oil spots under Harleys. <lmao> No shortage of subjects there. :hornet:

Robocop1051
For the record... As for as that DD Mk18... The receiver and BCG were frozen solid with carbon. A little bit of love, like Dorothy gave the Tin Man, and I was finally able to mortar it open. I drenched that S.O.B., gave her a quick shake, then ran several flawless mags through her... like it never happened. I swore I'd own that upper one day. blue109
when I was namestorming for my son, one of my biker friends suggested Harley. I told him no way, I didn't want the kid leaking all over and staining my furniture.
Magwa
mobile 1 synthetic in copulas amounts for the win!!!!! you will find that after a few weeks the metal will always be slick from this oil as it permantly penetrates into the pores of the metal...... Externally lubricated! (But I like them) The old joke about radials is that if they aren't blowing oil overboard... You better land! Cause you're OUT! wfojon
Sorry, a little late on this but I had the same problem. Turns out the PA10 lower build kit I got from PSA had an AR15 spring and buffer, I contacted them and they sent out a heavy buffer and a 308 spring. My gun works great now but it sure was a trying experience to work out the problems. Jon
