    Grilling

I make a loaf of sourdough pretty much every weekend. Buddy brought back the starter for it from Bahrain a few years back. I have kept it going for almost two years myself, supposedly the starter has been going a thousand years but not sure how that could be proven. The stuff can be addictive! Yours looks pretty good, I have started using a loaf pan just for ease of storage and use but you don't get as much of the crispy crust that way.
  2. If they used rocksett then soaking in water overnight would help.
  3. Use an ADM mount for my Aimpoint and magnifier, never had an issue with it coming loose or not returning to zero.

  5. A true leader, godspeed general! “In the American Civil War it was a matter of principle that a good officer rode his horse as little as possible. There were sound reasons for this. If you are riding and your soldiers are marching, how can you judge how tired they are, how thirsty, how heavy their packs weigh on their shoulders? I applied the same philosophy in Vietnam, where every battalion commander had his own command-and-control helicopter. Some commanders used their helicopter as their personal mount. I never believed in that. You had to get on the ground with your troops to see and hear what was happening. You have to soak up firsthand information for your instincts to operate accurately. Besides, it’s too easy to be crisp, cool, and detached at 1, 500 feet; too easy to demand the impossible of your troops; too easy to make mistakes that are fatal only to those souls far below in the mud, the blood, and the confusion.” ― Harold G. Moore, We Were Soldiers Once . . . and Young: Ia Drang-The Battle That Changed the War in Vietnam
  6. Can you elaborate on the signs of pressure? Pictures would help.
  7. isn't the G2 a 308AR? http://dpms-gii.com/full.html
  8. May last year I sent in the paperwork, took my $200 on that less than two weeks later and no hint of a stamp yet.

  11. Never considered my stash "massive", must be "super massive" since "massive" seems to fall below "tens of thousands"........... No concern about the ammo here, you gotta have someone that knows how to employ that ammo before it matters, the type of training given should be what we concern ourselves with.

  13. I did, thought it would pay to have what I needed to do it. Piss poor idea! Hard to even find the primers and the hydraulic decapper is like a trip to a water park with no bikini 's in sight, pointless!
  14. Can't imagine how deprived a person must have been to grow up and not know what an Allis Chalmers is.........
  15. We called it film in those days, and no filming done, I was just happy to get my turn!
  16. Glad to hear you got passed over MM! We got drenched by the leftovers of that storm hear in Pensacola, had me watching close when I saw what happened in N.O.
  17. Great minds think alike first thing I thought of was that cheerleader that got talked into letting the whole offensive line rotate through.....
  18. Calving time is prime time for coyotes, they smell that afterbirth and loose their heads, literally if we get the shot!
  19. I have a lead sled but find myself using it less and less. Really only use it now for break-in, makes the frequent cleaning at the bench easier.
  20. My political feelings force me to lean towards Fulton, that and they have an excellent track record here with other members. I own an AR-10B Armalite but recent QC issues prevent me from recommending a new Armalite now. I have a Sig P716 that runs good now but took several trips in and lots of frustration to get there. My favorite 308 AR rifle to shoot right now is a Matrix Aerospace receiver set build, 16 inch barrel with rifle length gas system. Doubt I ever buy a factory made AR again in any caliber, building your own is very rewarding.

  22. Same manufacturers block went against the shoulder in a BA barrel but that one had a dimple. I do seem to get more than my share of gas port R&D time!
  23. The Faxon 10.5 inch 300 BO barrel I used required my SLR block to be spaced off the shoulder a couple credit cards or so. One of those "your mileage may differ " things.
  24. I have used that same PA mount for near three years now on both 308 and 5.56 with no issues. I did give it a little time with the lapping compound to even out a couple high spots. I go 35 in/lb on the rail mount and the same 15 in/lb you went with on the rings but after I lapped it I gave them a touch of blue loctite figuring I would not need to mess with them again. It has been an issue free mount for me, a bargain for the money! I had to grind just a touch off the lower front to clear the barrel nut on my M-15T upper when I moved it to that rifle.
  25. What are you running for a buffer and spring? Anything special or just standard 308 parts?
