CDNN has Bushmaster kits less the barrel, BCG, gas block, and gas tube for $499. Bear Creek has BCG as of yesterday. Faxon had barrels and so did Brownells.
Colt has been in and out of bankruptcy and receivership for years. CZ took over Dan Wesson a few years back and they are still making excellent guns. Probably a good thing.
We have about 1/2" of ice everywhere since Wednesday. Expecting 2 storms between now and Tuesday pm. Up to a foot of snow expected. Work was soooo fun sliding around the lots with semi trailers.
The gen2 p80 Glock frames I just finished were easy. I used a pocket knife, egg beater type hand drill, file, and a dremel. No milling like the first gen stuff. 2nd gen has metal rails in the rear too.
If you have a vise and a couple of empty 45acp cases they make the ejector install easier. A 45 case fits the bolt head and will collapse the ejector enough to get the roll pin in. The other piece of brass goes over the tail of the bolt. It helps if there are two people. Another set of hands.

This set up works. If it says out of stock call them they are pretty good about finding another set.
1/4" between bolt face and bolt catch is good to go. Somewhere I got the impression that it was more like an inch. I must have misread something.
You probably need to open the gas port a bit and get a heavier buffer. Slash @ heavy buffers can fix you right up.
You won't know about the gas port until you measure it.
First off your buffer is to light. It should be close to 5.4 oz. If your bolt is going back that far past the bolt catch it is also to short. Where the buffer tube screws in to the receiver check to see if the bcg is hitting the receiver. A too short buffer will let it hit when it isn't supposed to. Your bolt is probably traveling to fast to catch the bolt catch. My 16" wilson 6.5 creedmoor barrel runs fine w/a fixed gas block. It has the same gas tube length as yours.
The only thing dry firing hurts is rim fire and older guns with brittle firing pins. Not a good idea for older S&W revolvers w/the firing pin on the hammer. Snap caps solve this if you are woried about your gun use snap caps.
