Not yet, brother, but I'll give it a whirl and see what happens. <thumbsup>

Well, midlength gas on a 16" will give you about the same dimension as running carbine gas on a 14.5" - it's all math, and how much barrel (forward of the gas port) that you have to work with, when getting a Dissy together.. 7" carbine gas system on a 14.5" will give you roughly 7.5" working length to make a Dissy - and that's tough to do. 9" midlength gas system on a 16" will give you 7" of barrel to work with - gonna be tough to buy off-the-shelf parts and get a Dissy together, brother. Not impossible, but you're back to the "machining" side of the house again, running midlength gas. <thumbsup>

Brother, it shouldn't be too bad, digging them up - just scroll through the Black Rifles section, find any thread I started, and there's gonna be pics in those threads for rifles. I have some threads in the Rifles section, for the non-AR stuff. My .308 AR is buried in the DPMS section, somewhere - I have trouble finding it, but I'll dig it out and link it here. <thumbsup>

Yes, it certainly would, brother - big time. Robo put one on his .308, and I've got two of them on AR pistols. They're damn high quality, function well, and as a side bonus, add a little weight to your carrier. <thumbsup>

If anyone can find "Did My Time - The Grayed Out Mix" - post that chit up. That's the one. You can't find that anywhere...
-
Yep. Pretty convinced. Even more than a 338LM. My mind is made up. Ironically, it's damn near 4/5 ths of the way to a Barrett 98B. Go figure...

I can just see you, on the bike, on a call, and whipping that thing out as an AR pistol - straight outta your saddlebag and into action!!!... DIE, LAWLESS VERMIN, DIE!!! <laughs> <lmao>

Both those projectiles are gonna be impressive through the 300BLK platform. <thumbsup>

Got a (modified, for folding) Magpul PRS2 on it. Know what they make that for, and ONLY for?

Sheeeeeit - sorbothane? All three of the 10/22s have the VTAC Mk1, the GSR has one, the Rem 700 has one, the Mk12 Mod 0 has one, and the FV-SR has one. Can't go wrong there, and I've got alot of "testing" behind them. Hell, the FV-SR has been through 2 Appleseeds, and all the 10/22s have been out to each shoot in the last year, as loaners. I even shot the Mk12 myself at one, iron sights only. Damn good sling, brother, damn good. <thumbsup>

I run the VTAC Mk 1 slings on alot of rifles - they don't slip, and I've never had an issue with them. Something to look into before your shoot, eagle. http://www.vikingtactics.com/slings_original.html

You KNEW what it was?... :ugone2far: :bat: :bitchslap: :tfg:

EasyE, any picture of any rifle I've got on this site - you can use it. You gotta dig for them, but you can use them... <laughs> <thumbsup>

They're long bastards, because of the gas checks they build into them, and because of the solid construction... They need a fast twist. <thumbsup> The 70 TSX I load up - some of those are longer than some 75 and 77gr projos out there. I'm damn near out of those things, and don't dare shoot what's already loaded.

Mike, the most trouble-free way to build this isn't with a rifle gas system. Just use a 16" carbine gas system, and you'll have the most freedom in the build, and it'll operate with the widest ranges of ammo, and you cam run a faster twist rate of 1:7, for the heavy bullets. Now, keep in mind that twist and bullet weight isn't the correct way - it's just what we do, and recommend. The real deal is twist, and bullet length. Since we're constrained to a diameter (.224" on the 5.56 guns), when you go heavier on the bullet, it has to be longer (all comstruction principles being the same (i.e., copper jacketed lead core, etc.) I offer this to you, my brother - I know you love some .308 Win Barnes TSX. IF Barnes ever brings back the .224" TSX, or TTSX, those are some LONG projectiles. Longer than something of similar weight, that is constructed of a lead core, copper jacket. You'll need a 1:7 twist to run some 62gr or 69gr 5.56 TSX rounds. Okay, with that out of the way, I recommend the 16" carbine gas. You have freedom to build it how you want, the barrels are more readily available than anything else on the market, it's at or over 16" so you don't have to legally pin the comp or flash hider onto it to get it legal, and you don't have to do any custom machining. Rob's 14.5" dissy has custom machining. If you truly want to run a front sight base, it's not gonna fit on a 14.5" barrel 1) unless that barrel already has rifle gas, or 2) without some custom machining. Carbine gas is reliable with almost every type/weight of ammo out there. You can depend on it. If you feel the recoil is harsh (it's not bad, at all, in reality), then you just toss in a H2 or H3 buffer. Done. 16" carbine gas barrels are everywhere - maybe not right now, but... Seems everybody wants an M4 lookalike, and they need it legal. Carbine gas, and 16 inches. Every company that makes barrels, makes a 16" Carbine barrel. I've got two "Dissy" rifles - even though one is kinda cheating. My 45AR is blowback operated, so it doesn't even have a gas system, at all. It's still a 16" barrel with rifle-length handguard, and a fixed front sight base - the same Armalite clamp-on A2 base I talked you into... <thumbsup> My 300BLK, though not finished yet, will be a Dissipator - 16" barrel, running carbine gas.

Brother, just shoot me a PM with the issues you're having... I'll help, but making house calls is something else, man. <laughs>

It's a damn G3 varient, in one way or another - either the MSG-90 or PSG-1. I still don't want one. It might be an AK rip-off, made up pretty, which means I really don't want one...

I test rode the Zero bikes, too, at the last dealership. They brought them down to try to get us as a dealer. I rode that exact bike in that link, but the thing was red and white. Wouldn't wheelie. Was not impressed. Got up to speed quick, but top speed was not impressive. Pass. SF will not pick this up. By the way.

Unless you're shooting subsonic rounds... At that point, all you hear is the action cycling. No supersonic crack.

The absolute most badass edition of "Did My Time" by Korn - was for the Tombraider movie. They've never done that version again... Ever...

Bolt - Savage FV-SR, in a Boyd's Tacticool stock, and DIP bottom metal setup: Semi - Ruger 10/22, any flavor. There's nothing that you can't do to these things... I'll provide gunsmithing tips, when necessary. <thumbsup> For a scope, I highly, highly, highly, highly, highly recommend the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 22, 3-9x40, with BDC150 reticle. There is none finer for a .22 rifle.

HK G3, in a custom chassis, and a sheitload of other custom work.

If anybody sees 12.5 " 300 AAC or 223 barrels cheap, let me know
98Z5V replied to EasyEJL's topic in Wanted to Buy
Weighed both my 5.56 pistols today - both are exactly 6.4 lbs, unloaded, no mag. Just the pistol. Seems like the little one would be lighter than the 11.5", but that's not the case. The REAL Shorty is a 7.5" heavy barrel, with a heavy KX3 hanging on the end. The 11.5" is a Govt/A2 profie with only the A2 on the end of it. Same exact weight for each. <thumbsup> I should have weighed the 9mm pistol. I'll get that later.
