cpl666k9 Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 Magwa, I live in Kamiah. We have fires all around us. That is a bad fire you've got going in Orofino.
Robocop1051 Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 There are two fires about 1 hour from me. They joined today, making a 160 sq. mile fire.... that's insane.
jtallen83 Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 Prayed for rain, hope you all get relief soon!
cpl666k9 Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 If you look at a fire map it looks like northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and the west side of Montana are ablaze.
Magwa Posted August 15, 2015 Author Report Posted August 15, 2015 It is insane guys just got back from my second 14 hour shift in the last 36 hours we saved a bunch of homes last night and kept the fire from jumping the road for a 5 mile stretch.... I am to old for this $hit..... one fire covered 5 miles in 13 min. another went from 400 acres to 1500 in 3 hours all driven by 35 to 40 mile a hour winds and temps near 100.... CPL666K9 you stay safe brother i know your town got evacuated yesterday that is a bad MO FO fire.... Thanks all for the prayers we need a bunch of them....

shepp Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Man magwa you weren't kidding!?!http://www.esri.com/services/disaster-response/wildlandfire/latest-news-map Edited August 15, 2015 by shepp
Sisco Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Mag for what its worth, they have pulled just about every able bodied fire fighter and private loggers from this area and sent them out in some cases with some of their heavy equipment to Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington to help fight the fires.. A friend with his own logging business is out there with his whole crew for the last month.with no schedule when he is coming back home. Told me to find another source for firewood this year, as he won't have time to log any. Edited August 15, 2015 by Sisco
shepp Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 They got him cutting break lines sisco? My buddy that I posted the ice bike videos of trained to be a fire jumper till he learned you got the call and you had to be there in 24 hours. He did a lot of control burns with the DNR here till he lost his leg then with a private company after. He ended up quoting with them because they wouldn't listen to any of his advice. Fighting fire with fire it's a crazy art
wetncold Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Are these started by lightning strikes or Ferguson protester types?
jtallen83 Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 I don't know which fire it was but I caught the news blaming sparks from a trailer being pulled down the highway........... <dontknow>
shepp Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 I think magwa said lightning in a prior post.
Sisco Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Our family in Idaho say they are having dust storms its so dry. And they have never seen that before. I guess there is absolutely no moisture in the soil for quite a ways down.
Tripledeuce Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 The Missionary ridge fire here in Durango burned 72,000 acres! Started by sparks from a trailer. Respectfully Terry
