blue109 Posted September 29, 2015 Report Posted September 29, 2015 Noob question. Any obvious visual cues to differentiate between the two BCGs? Do all AR10 firing pins have the spring? Local guy listed an AR10 BCG for sale, but has no idea which one It is. Says it came out of a MA10.
survivalshop Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 There are demential differences of the Bolts ( & Barrel Extensions ) & maybe even the Bolt Carriers , but the two ,most of the time ,don't head space correctly in each others Barrel Extensions . You would have to check head space in your barrel Extension . Not sure about the spring loaded firing pin , others may know here.
Sisco Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 Both my AR10 rifle and my AR10T carbine have the spring loaded firing pin. Try sending MRaley a PM he is the man in the know when it comes to AR10's
jtallen83 Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 As far as I know all AR10's have the spring.Sure never heard of an MA10???
DNP Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) MATEN. Mega Arms. Edited September 30, 2015 by DNP Added pic.
jtallen83 Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 MATEN. Mega Arms. That makes sense then, not a true AR10.
Matt.Cross Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 As far as I know all AR10's have the spring.Sure never heard of an MA10??? The Mega Arms MA-TEN is what he's referring to, sometimes abbreviated as MA10.
Matt.Cross Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 That makes sense then, not a true AR10.Not in the strictest sense, but the MA TEN receiver pattern is the Armalite style, so not as much of a misnomer in this case as is typical.
Rsquared Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 All of my 10's have the spring on the firing pins.
blue109 Posted September 30, 2015 Author Report Posted September 30, 2015 Does anyone even make an aftermarket AR10 BCG?
Rsquared Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 Not that I've heard of. I think the Noveske N6 carriers were made to the same spec (since they followed the Armalite pattern).
survivalshop Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Does anyone even make an aftermarket AR10 BCG? Why ? Even Armalite is drifting toward being a DPMS ?
Malig8r Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Why ? Even Armalite is drifting toward being a DPMS ?DOH, I can't believe you went there...watch out...there will be pitchforks and torches soon...lol
jtallen83 Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Why ? Even Armalite is drifting toward being a DPMS ?I fear you may be right.....get the good stuff while you can guys!!!!!!
98Z5V Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 The Armalite AR10 is the only BCG that uses a firing pin spring. They all should, IMHO...
Rsquared Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Why ? Even Armalite is drifting toward being a DPMS ?Sounds like someone is pickin for a fight! laughing

Malig8r Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Only from those Armalite 'people'! Everyone else just thinks it's funny! ROFLMAO!!!I wonder if the Armalite people are like the Neanderthals, destined to just fade away while the rest of us continue to flourish? LMAO!!!
Rsquared Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Why? Tom isn't one of those Armalite 'people'! What? You think he's the only one that knows the fridge trick? jtallen83 Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 No offense taken, us "people" understand the need try to make jokes when confronted with the inadequacies of other wannabe rifles. Just remember, you too could have the real AR-10.....
planeflyer21 Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) Double whammy. Edited October 2, 2015 by planeflyer21

Just remember, you too could have the real AR-10.....And so can all you "Armalite" people. You just have to find someone willing to part with a 1950s rifle made by the Armalite Division of Fairchild Aircraft. But hey...there's always the "we paid for the right to use the name, so it's authentic" rifles available.Kinda like collecting matchbooks.
