C Funnk Posted October 23, 2017 Report Posted October 23, 2017 Good afternoon,All. just finished an ar15 build and had so much fun,I'm gonna build a 308. Been browsing about a week and see a lot of knowledge here, so I'm anxious to get started and acquire some great advice.
C Funnk Posted October 24, 2017 Author Report Posted October 24, 2017 Yeah, just got the daughter off to college, and after years of her playing travel softball, thought I might save up some money. But just got into reloading also, so that idea's not working out so well.??. Oh well, should be a fun time!
Armed Eye Doc Posted October 24, 2017 Report Posted October 24, 2017 Welcome from Texas. Where in the state are you?
C Funnk Posted October 24, 2017 Author Report Posted October 24, 2017 I am in Austin Texas. Well, actually , just north of there in Round Rock
EngrBob Posted October 24, 2017 Report Posted October 24, 2017 Howdy from the Texas side of the borders, i.e. real West Texas!
C Funnk Posted October 25, 2017 Author Report Posted October 25, 2017 What a great forum!! Been researching parts for a build and this will be a 300 yard and less rifle(at least for a while). So here goes a rough major parts list and let me know what y'all think. I am starting to order parts this weekend. ATX Armory receiver set Wilson Combat barrel(14.7 p&w or 16)and BCG SLR adj gas block and handguard trigger elftmann or WC TTU ubr stock and jp SCS Not too familiar with forums, but if this is in the wrong place, let me know and I'll move it. Thanks
Armed Eye Doc Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 It's not a big deal if it is in this thread, but you might start a new thread in the member's build area. That way your questions won't get overlooked in an introduction thread.

Thanks Skip the adjustable gas block - until you find that you need it. Skip the higher priced triggers, and pay the full retail 0f $125 for the LaRue MBT2 trigger. Crazy expensive triggers can/will come later, on future builds, and you won't regret getting that LaRue trigger. Skip the JP SCS setup, and go simple. UBR2 stock, Armalite AR-10 Carbine buffer (exact same thing as AR-15 Carbine H3 buffer), and Armalite EA1095 buffer spring. Start simple, with parts that work - get complicated later. One of my many mottos - Don't complicate shiit with complicated shiit.
