Hello there,

 

I'm a newbie to building rifles. I am currently in the process of building an AR308 and hoping to joins a community who can help steer me clear of any potential headaches.... which sounds all too common with this type of build.

Welcome from Indiana brother. The one thing that can save you some grief is getting a similar upper/ lower set and Armalite recoil system should you decide on a carbine setup.

Welcome from Texas.  As others have said, let us know what you have already or what you are thinking about and your budget.  We can't recommend very many specifics beyond what @unforgiven said without knowing what you want and how much you can spend.  People here have expensive tastes when they are spending other people's money.
