If there was a separate switch for the strobe it would help.  It's ANNOYING!   I don't even like the high and low beam on the same switch.  If you look in to a 500 lumen flashlight, how much more disorienting do you need?

OK, here's another twist.

Why do guys always seem to put the light on the same side as their own head?  I know I am certainly in the minority on this one but I absolutely prefer my light on the far side and NOT keep the light on the side of my face.

At least if someone were to get off an either lucky OR very well placed shot at the light, it COULD hit the light and maybe even part of my arm but at least it wouldn't nail me in the face.

I'm a little older than the new wave of tactical crowd and probably a bit more salty than the average fella but damn, why paint a target on your own face for gosh sakes??

Might as well put a little glow stick over your heart and a glowy happy face over your nuts while you're at it.

I don't care HOW popular that seems to be, I will never be tempted to give anyone a direct bulls-eye to my own head.

I'm sure the tactical theorists will argue with me all day on this one but damn, that just seems a bit much for my level of common sense and experience to bare.

Hell, I remember back when if you grabbed a guy with a light mounted to his rifle or shotgun, you were probably talking with a poacher.

Anyone remember those huge 6 D-cell lights with the 5 inch lens that guys used hose clamps and pieces of wood to mount on their favorite poachin guns??

Remember the "D" cell Maglites and Kelites you could use for a club.

Yes after I replaced the baseball bat I had in my truck with one after a LEO didn't believe it was for softball with one, which was a better choice

Yup, I didn't own a nightstick the first 5 years I was a cop! :bat: <lmao>

I actually used the C cell models, they fit real nice in a nightstick ring. <thumbsup>

I don't use a strobe function on my weapon lights, However the light I carry on my duty rig has one. It comes in handy when you work 2nds or 3rds and you want to disorient someone.

Agreed. Although I find that 600 lumens or more pretty much blinds them so much I end up waiting for their eyes to readjust way to long. Most of the time I want the stop to be quick, but there are those certain ones....

Funny. There's some funny stories from some DC cops that I've known that involve the 'D" cell maglights. And I think that we can all figure that they're some "Larry" type of stories. <lmao> :bat:

Man you guys sound like you know how to make life amusing!  I can't see the strobe as anything other than rescue.  Seems useless to use as a tactical light, and I've tried aiming with one of those.  Nope.  I have one light with a strobe.  Can never remember how to find the strobe....and it ain't number three.  I'll pass.

I've heard of border patrol referring to international trespassers as "tonks". from my understanding, its an onomatopoeia from the maglight days.

Yep, my older son is a BP agent and he told me about that! <lmao>

I own a Surefire M900A and although it doesn't have a strobe function it does have two small red led guide lights that allow you to navigate without constricting your pupils.

Hit the button when needed and boom, instant daylight.
