Arizona desert 2149,  the solar storms have been gone for fifty odd years.  The few survivors have emerged from their shelters and can once again forage for sustenance.  Most all structures have toppled into piles of rubble and become treasure coves for the remaining humans.  A small child comes to the group gleefully offering her find.  A can of Sweet Sue's canned chicken.  The leader smiles and praises her find.  Once he accepts the treasure,  he turns to the man in charge of supply and says,  "  throw this crap out,  I hear it hurt someone from the old 308ar gang.  It'll kill ya."

That poor kid had to be just crushed...   :lmao:

...crushed and defiant she led out of the encampment alone,  swearing to never return.

After they got outta sight the little girl turned to her faithful dog  Bigboy and said" I surely am glad I didn't tell Leader Dude that I found a whole case of Wolf Brand Chili in air tight cans and a case of Town House Crackers,  we'll share that stuff , just me and you, don't tell anybody, just because you can espeaka da Spanish don't mean you should, jest keep your mouth shut, Bigboy..  I wonder if that six cans of cherry pie filling is eatable stuff, I never have seen any cherries in a air tight can."

Now satisfied that her true stash had not been discovered she allowed her eyes to open big and bright.  She hated that dullard look she learned from Gran mamon,  the mystic that Leader Dude employed.  She knew this was her time,  perhaps a little premature,  but necessary.  She was a threat, just as her mother and father had been.  The smile spread across her face and her pace fastened.  Even Bigboy held his head higher and perked up his ears.  The team was getting in gear,  moving away from an ugly past and toward some future,  but what ?

Grand Mamon had saved the child...

et vous?

Sounds like we have a contender for 308AR storytime. I'm willing to pass the torch. :laffs:

I was thinking with the two of you, there could be some epic threads coming!

or is that you?  RedRiver2....R2....I smell shenanigans.

Just having some fun,  actually having some less expensive fun.  It can get pretty costly hanging around this place.  My view of those chicken pictures has me a bit delirious.

having fun and shenanigans is what keeps people coming back.  well that and the Gun stuff.👍

We enjoy the writing. Throw it in wherever you see fit. It was definitely an entertaining read!  I’m just saying...I think Red River is an alternate screen name for our long time East Coast writer R2 (Rsquared). He’ll occasionally spin out a story and is quite a writer as well....too many coincidences. That’s the shenanigans I am referring to.

Nah, he's a Florida guy, and I'm in the Maryland region. Same coast, but complete different mindsets, meaning Florida is better than Maryland. A bunch of socialist rat bastards around this area.

And as far as the stories go, well, everybody can always tell if I've stayed up late (drinking), when one of those comes out. Hmmm.......now that I think about it......it's been a while.

Cool,  wasn't sure if appropriate or enjoyed.  Rsquared and I are not the same person.  I heard Maryland has an impossibly reckless leadership and following.  The State first,  people second.  In any event that canned chicken prompt was overwhelming,  an absolutely hilarious prompt for everyone except the poor chicken.  I'm definitely getting cremated when my time comes.  F - that.

Eat enough canned chicken and the preservatives will keep your body embalmed forever.

You can “both” say you’re not the same person...but @jtallen83 has taught me that you can’t trust anyone and if there are enough coincidences....the story must be true. The names are close, you both write entertaining stories and I’ve never seen the two of you in the same place at the same time. I don’t buy it. R2 is starting new logins for each of the voices.

Then I have failed, my intentions are to spur investigation, explore possibilities, expand vision. The only truth that really counts is the one that is arrived at by oneself. Trust can be assigned in levels, the words of those that have lied to me are placed on a much lower level and met with much skepticism.

Obviously you have some interest in pursuing this discussion or you wouldn't have tagged me................

maybe I didn't fail entirely.

Red, do you have a Starship graphic in your house? Do you like to drive a long ways with few restroom breaks? Do you like Armalite AR10 B’s? Now we gotta get to the bottom of this. I see it now, a story about two doppelgängers, one in Maryland and one in Florida, who are rescued by a crack 308AR team from a canned chicken torture facility and finally brought face to face to prove they are not one and the same.

That's deep Sisco.  That's a whole 'nuther' level sir.  Appropriate,  but heavy.  Let's see Starship graphic/ no.  Long trip's without BR breaks?  Not since they zapped my prostate,  1-1/2 hours at most.  Saved by a team from 308ar,  both of us saved by the team,  very interesting,  absolutely inviting.  I like the idea of the little girl going out alone with the pup.  She the unlikely hero,  protagonist.  That damn chicken must come along.  Rsquared and I the observers,  detailers,  or creators?  I had a rough week with Drs.,  but love this crazy writing stuff.  I'll get back here soon.

I'll crack the code for you Red. Starting a couple years back, every once in a blue moon, I'd be up late on a weekend (drinking of course) and I'd spin out a tale or two. All fictitious stories made up of "the 308 AR teams". Strike team style of action, but with the lovable crowd that's the regulars around here (some of us have been here for quite a while). Each story different, but with a common thread. Each with a different leader, and in a different part of the country. I, as the writer/storyteller, was never the leader or "star" of the story. Always just another member of the "teams".

So, the guys aren't trying to confuse you. Just nobody spelled it out yet. And the way you let that little gem of yours flow, made DNP start making the comparison (as a joke).

As you were.....carry on.
