Greetings, my name is Michael. I live in FL and just ordered a DPMS G2 Recon.

About myself; I am 38 years old. I am a Libertarian and detest partisan politics as. I am prior law enforcement (5 years) with much of that time spent specializing in drug interdiction.

The last .308 AR I owned was an A2 style Armalite 10 years ago.

I look forward to contributing and learning.

Thanks.

You did real good , gotta love the Lancers .

I'm in St Augustine , you are in the same town the Tactical Machining is in . I go there a couple times a year to pick up Receivers , they no longer make small parts, just Receivers & such . Thats what I was told last year when they were moving to a larger building , right down the street . I have not been to the new building yet , but sure it only a matter of time .

Looks nice!

It's not an AR-10 though, only ArmaLite sells AR-10's.

Not sure what you mean by that statement , but he did say he used to own one

I like the GII , I thought about buying one , but fell for the Socom M1A .:laffs:

Thanks fellas.

Look, AR10, like Bandaid, Velcro and Kleenex has become synonymous with all .308 Stoner style rifles.

Is it technically correct? No, but it describes the rifle with little effort to explain what it is.

While it may be true that AR10 is widely used to describe all 308 ARs, the reason we make a distinction on this forum is due to the incompatibility of parts between manufacturers.  There are many threads here on the differences.  Here is a brief, but outdated now with manufacturer listings, description of the differences.

https://308ar.com/articles/compatibility/

It may sound similar to someone correcting your grammar, but it is important to know exactly what the rifle is when there are problems.  You cannot install a Ford alternator on a Chevy pickup.  They just wont work together just like true AR10 parts will not necessarily work on a DPMS 308AR or Rock River or PSA etc...

We are not intentionally sounding like asssholes ... most of the time.:lmao:

Maybe I'll start using AR.308

It would make things easier for others here, who know much more about firearms than I do, to not give improper advice should you need it.

Again, welcome to the forum.
