98Z5V
I'm still not believing the 6.8 hype that Milley referred to, not at all. There isn't a 6.8 out there that is so much faster than 5.56 rounds, currently. Nor do those 6.8 (.270 guns) FAR OUTDISTANCE the 5.56 rounds in inventory (Mk 262 Mod 1). Nor will any 6.8 defeat most body armor out there. Read the comments below that linked article... This might be some weird, caseless shiit that's super secret. I know there's a Tucson ammo manufacturer that got told "SILENCE!" after a specific round was developed... Very little info out there on that one. Maybe they are talking about another 6.8 they tried & this new one is a better performer .? I'm betting on SIG ! ?

This idiot just got referred by Trump as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Which was against the recommendation made by Mad Dog Mattis... This is another (secondary) reason Mad Dog resigned. This administration is fucking up by the numbers, right now. From the top down. The VERY top. JF89
I posted this about a month ago with two similar links and everyone said it was bullpoopy, kind of funny how that works.

That’s because this bunch humors me, because they know I am so senile that if they don’t I will keep posting the same stuff over and over. Plus I have compromising photos of all of them. Don’t ask me how I got them. But being senile, I can’t remember who is who. ?
ARTrooper
yeah I believe when JF89 posted about this I said in many words that this is impossible unless they have secretly come out with the next evolution of powder, case strength, and bullet. It's just media and politics.

Robocop1051
I will put down a $100 to say the US military will NOT be replacing the 5.56x45 for their standard issue ammunition. I know there are special units using boutique stuff. There always has been. The concept of scrapping 1/4 million rifles and several billion rounds of ammo for an insignificant (possibly nonexistent) upgrade is asinine. The next generation of firearm will be an electronically assisted projectile. The technology is theoretically possible already, and on the verge of discovery. The 5.56 will be replaced with a steel constructed projectile, traveling hypersonic speeds.

ARTrooper
one of the biggest problem with caseless is overheating since a decent percentage of the heat created is actually removed when the case is ejected from the weapon.
