Repost?  I'm printing this for the next shoot.

That's the Spray-N-Pray guys, looking for that magic "Fireball!!!" camera shot at night - while they're shooting at the 450-yard target.  They get "magic," all right, and shoot everything BUT the target - the chains holding it, the fucking T-Posts, all that... and the target falls down.  Meanwhile Tom-Ass and Matt Cross trek downrange to fix said target, and the Chollo cactus decide to attack...  just Matt...

This feels like Deja Vu...  has this happened before?  Oh yeah, it happens every year...  minus the cacti on Matt. That only happens once.  ONCE...

I keep trying to drag other guys downrange with me, at night, so they can "get the experience," but they're always skeered...  :lmao:

I count myself to be incredibly lucky! The guy digging chollo out of me with his knife was stone cold sober. This is the same guy who gets 3 sheets to the wind and hosts the 3am "Shoot like John Wick" pistol clinic.

"Trigger jerk, recoil anticipation and heeling were three things I always trained people for prior to pistol qual.  By watching where their own impacts land, they could identify what they were doing wrong, recognize that, and make corrections for it."

I covered those things during the Pre-Fire, then again individually during the "sighting in" and practice rounds.  A few minutes spent with troubled shooters saved countless hours of additional range time and ammunition.

Shortly after 9-11 we (SAI) were tasked with training tens of thousands of Reservists when the came on Active Duty.  Sometimes we would bring them to where I was, other times they would fly me to their location.  I typically had groups of 20-35 or so and had to train them on three weapons, M-16, M9 and Shotgun.  I had a few that would shoot poorly on purpose, thinking they would be getting a cushy job Stateside instead of sent over to the sand lot.  I told them that IF they didn't qualify they would most likely get jobs unloading supplies in the heat, instead of standing guard duty and such, and without weapons quals they would have to use their knife to defend themselves if things went to chit.

You'd be surprised how quickly their scores would improve!..........Cliff

Yes, and one has to remember that not all Reservists have LE type jobs, although many of ours did.  Some were State Police, Detectives and Patrolman, and as mentioned the Chief of Police for Pittsburgh.  Sine they are LE types they already have weapons quals with their service stuff, so they come up to speed quickly with Military weapons.

The rest of the Reservists had jobs varying from bus drivers to factory workers to school teachers, and everything in between.  Even so the vast majority were highly dedicated and devoted to duty and I was proud to serve with them.

I retired in 2003 despite some "stop-loss" for personnel with certain Qual Codes, HH and HL were among them.  I needed to go, 20 years and responsible for hundreds of thousands of rounds down range had taken a toll on my hearing.  The constant ringing haunts me to this day.........Cliff

That shiit works, too, doesn't it...      I never shot better the whole weekend...   :laffs:

The very greatest secret to "Center Axis Relock" is never talked about, no matter HOW much you research it - but I'll say it.  Non-Dominant Eye.  :hail:

My primary hearing loss tinnitus is industry then shooting. The ringing spoils a lot bueatiful places where it would otherwise be silent.

It certainly does! Ringing started for me in the service but 30 years of construction has added to it. I need to have some sort of noise going all the time, sleep with the tv on, always have the radio or a podcast playing in the car or that ringing drives me nuts. Doctor keeps recommending a pill but the idea of a pill messing with the little hearing I have left spooks me.

Best pistol clinic I ever attended by far!

Pill.. first I heard. The main living room has a 15' cieling. Got an LED Samsung the speaker was $hit sound bouncing off wall, couldn't get it loud enough to hear dialogue. Got a Samsung sound bar 5.1 series with center speaker for dialogue. Big improvement , I thought I was going to have to use close caption. A lesser man would go mad with the constant high frequency hum. Sucks. Last assignment in the plastics factory I couldn't push the plugs in far enough. Muffs with a hard hat we're worse when I got overheated.

Made it to the range with the RPR to try out the PPU 168 grain match BTHP and used the new utg keymod mount bipod & accu shot mono pod. I could not have been more pleased!!!! Absolutely NO adjustments to the scope were needed. The ppu point of impact was identical to the Federal gmm! Under a dime at 100 yards and under 1/4 at 200 yards! This was the 100-yard Target. The center red circle was a dime traced. I was unable to retrieve the 200-yard Target because there were too many shooters and I didn't feel like waiting around to run down and grab it. I was very impressed with the PPU, shot just as great as the federal match for half the price! The monopod while not as sturdy as sandbags, was still amazing! I was able to make rapid rough adjustment with the quick knob  , and then light adjustments by twisting. Much quicker than trying to adjust sandbags.. 5 shot group @ 100yds. Could have been a little better, I was having issues holding steady, too much coffee again today LOL

Damn great shooting, man!  Great job!  I like the PPU Match ammo - I have good results with the 69gr Match through the 5.56 guns.  It works quite well.

Thanks! It shot great. The Nikon m tactical with the 800 yard bdc isn't a precision scope. I think if I had my fine crosshair Leopold varmint mounted on it, it would really group well. Debating on getting Leopold's CDL knobs custom made to try it on THE RPR. The PPU is about half the price of the federal, but appears to perform exact.
