Way too much happening right now.

Yes indeed!   But good news!

That .300 Win Mag load I made, Damn!  71.8gr of RL-22 powder, all cases trimmed to the same length, CCI 250 primers, and a 225gr Hornady ELD-M projo, rocking just north of 2800fps.  That gun crushed the 1000 and 1200 quite well.  There's a 30 MOA rail on it from EGW, so I had to zero the gun at 500 yards. I dial 3.2 mils for the 850, dial 4.9 mils for the 1000, and dial 7.5 mils for the 1200.  My dope chart that I made up for that gun is right on the money.  We didn't shoot those targets again after we pulled them today, so I'll get pics of those in here tomorrow.  That gun and load seriously impressed me.

That sounds like fun!

R2 looks extremely Dehydrated. I’m hoping there was a camelback full of MGD that I just can’t see in the photo.

He's already talking about an ice-filled backpack for next year, and load it with MGD...

@Matt.Cross called 30 minutes ago - he's back on the ground in NC, and headed to work at 2pm.   :bat:

His flight out was pulling away from the gate at 5am this morning, so @Cunuckgaucho gave him a ride to the airport, and began his own journey back up to the Great White North then.  They planned to leave the house at 3:10am. I set my alarm a little earlier to bid them farewell...   I woke up, didn't hear a PEEP downstairs, so I waited to exactly 3:10am...   and they're walking quietly downstairs.  Eric's car was pre-loaded last night and ready to go...   I said, "Hey Fuckers, it's 3:10am. Grab your poop..."   :laffs:

I made Black Bean Chili the night prior, so that was heated back up for dinner that night, with 20 Bacon/Cheddar brats.

I started talking about food, then got side-tracked...

Breakfasts were 2.5 dozen eggs and bacon every morning - breakfast burritos, make them as big as you want...

Dinner Friday night - @JBMatt picked up 20 burgers, so it was burgers on the grill, cheese, and Spicy Siracha Bacon on top, or Blazin' Barbeque Bacn on top.  We made a pretty decent fire that night, and on Saturday morning we threw a couple small pieces off wood on the fire to "wake it up" again, then in went 32lbs of charcoal.  Once that charcoal was red-hot, in went foil-wrapped potatoes and onions, and 2 x 10lb pork butts.  Three giant foil-wrapped packages.  Coals on top, under, beside...   and buried it all in the dirt.  We were finished burying at 9:30am, and we dug them up at 6:pm.  Saturday night dinner - pork butts in the fire.  Didn't even need to cut them - just stick the tongs in them and pull off the meat that you wanted...  YUM!   I didn't get any pics of them, but I know someone did...

Day 1, arrival and setup.

Day 2 - High Angle.

Here's my High Angle AAR:

We were quite happy to get out there and start setting up, which is no small venture in itself.  Camp arranged, firepit dug, 450-yard target emplaced for the Night Shoots.  Food prepped, classes conducted, round-table question and answer...   and beverages.

We got a slow start Friday morning, High Angle Day.  Targets moved, targets emplaced, and prep for movement up the hill.  We took off to go UP the hill around 1pm that day.  It's about a 45-minute climb, with little pause or stops in movement - you just go, and get it over with.  We set up on top, and spent about the next half hour looking at targets, determining range to targets, determining downward angle, and computing corrected distance to those targets.  @Matt.Cross and I emplaced 4 targets.  We turned the 450 night target, dropped two close to the base of the hill, and put one further out there.  Target specs are as follows, all plates are 18"w x 32"h IPSC plates:

#1:  3 mils wide, so 166 yards.  17 degrees down, making him about 150 yards away.  Shoot for a 166-hold, and you'll fire over it. 0.96~0.95 correction factor.

#2: 2mils wide, so 250 yards.  12 degrees down, making him more like 240 yards. 0.97 correction.

#3: (the 450 from camp, turned) - 1.5 mils wide, 333 yards. 5 degrees down, so you don't even have to correct for it.  0.99 correction factor.

#4: We just dropped a guy out there at some distance, just to get some distance from the hill - turns out he was 1.0 mils wide, so that's 500 yards. 7 degrees down, 0.99 correction.

We all got the data on the targets, discussed it, figured it out.  Some guys got 20 degrees for the close one, and it was indeed closer to 20 than in between 15 and 20-ish.  Bottom line - the data on determining angle works.

There was Mk12 Madness up there on that hill that day.  There was a 5.56 Mk12 Mod 0 (Eric), a 5.56 Mk12 Mod 1 (Matt), another 5.56 Mk12 Mod 0 (Mike, blue), and a Grendel Mk12 Mod H (me).  @blue109 has some serious pics of the Mk12 porn on top of that ledge somewhere - it was spectacular.  :hail:

We all got on target, got hits, and chewed the hell out of the steel.  Tried all the range estimation, angle calcs - and everyone was on the money.  I can't remember what MikeDaddy and Ron brought up there with them, but Ron's son John brought a Rem 700 AAC SD in .308 Win, and he was ripping it up with that bolt gun.  We all shot each others guns, got hits on different platforms, BUT...

@Matt.Cross ran his 5.56 Mk12 Mod 1, on each target, from the prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing positions.  He got hits on every target in those 4 positions.  Big Balls Award for the day went to Matt.

Then, we came DOWN the hill, which always sucks worse than going up the fucker...

He's 13 hours on the road right now, exactly.  They pulled out at 3:10am, and it's 4:10pm right now.  Another day, and we'll have his pic porn uploaded to this thread...
