Dan67 Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 I learned to shoot the Garand when I was 12. Never been bit either. Dad taught us the correct way to load and unload it. ;) It takes some getting used to the garand rifle. The more you handle it you will know when the bolt is locked back by feel and sound. It is a great rifle.. but back on topic.. The wood grips are awesome. I wish we could still get the fine craftsmanship.
unforgiven Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 First time I shot a Garand I was 58. <lmao>

jtallen83 Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 Just a basic Springfield parkerized loaded with a short trigger and some work inside, 100% reliable so far!
planeflyer21 Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 This is beautiful…as is the story. The text that was with this 1911…it was owned by an Army officer and did three combat tours in 'Nam. The owner then took it to Japan and had this work done on it. The gold plated trigger and extended hammer were a part of the package done in Japan.

greenmist Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 One of my babies: The SIG TR slide, 10-8 rear sight, TLR, Ergo grips homestyle scooped.....passed the dreaded extractor test.

LAR8Autoshucker Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 This is my carry gun, Harriet. Just a stock range officer, I'm going to replace the sights though. The big square rear sight tends to grab my skin when racking and is a pain to get out from under a shirt in a hurry.
Microgunner Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Nice SA.Yeah, those adjustable sights weren't intended for CC.
LAR8Autoshucker Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 Thanks, micro. I'm a pretty large dude, sketch so the size and weight of a full size 1911 is really no biggie for me. But I can totally understand that not everybody wants to, or can, walk around with a slab side and two extra mags dragging them down.
sketch Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 What sight options are you looking at? Bolth front and rear or rear only?
LAR8Autoshucker Posted July 21, 2014 Report Posted July 21, 2014 Front and rear, I would like something more rounded and with the three dots. I've found the dots really help me get the proper sight alignment quickly when coming from concealment. I think kensight has some good options but nothing quite round enough that will fit the RO. Any recommendations?
unforgiven Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 I like thesehttp://www.heinie.com/shop/30055l-heinie-1911-ledge-straight-eight-night-sight-set/.Will eventually put them on my XDM.The Sig night sights a pretty nice also.
392heminut Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 I don't remember if the RO has the Bomar type sights or the LPA type. They look very similar but there is a difference. The Bomars have the elevation screw behind the dovetail and the LPA type the elevation screw goes directly into the dovetail. Harrison design makes a great fixed carry rear sight to replace both. These are for the Bomar type; http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/sights/rear-sights/1911-bo-mar-rear-sights-prod26360.aspx These replace the LPA type; http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/sights/rear-sights/1911-lpa-rear-sight-prod27287.aspx
LAR8Autoshucker Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 Thanks for the links, so far everybody on this site has impressed me with their willingness to help. I believe it is the LPA cut.
sketch Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 Lpa here hmm what's you options ? Curious but deadly with the standard! Night sites would be a bonous! Buddy bought some glow in the dark paint? I get it if their to sharp but will lo pro do you right with this steel? Maybe you can shave the corners off using some hand tools ?
Robocop1051 Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 This may be your only option... https://shop.harrisoncustom.com/hd-002-su-t2-rear-night-sight
98Z5V Posted July 26, 2014 Report Posted July 26, 2014 Meprolight Tritium sights - they are awesome. Run them on 3 different pistols. Worthy of a look. <thumbsup>
