OK then, I will post what I didn't want to bore people with. I need to vent. I'm POed.

One of the advantages of the KIDD Supergrade is the ability to rapidly switch barrels. It can go from a heavy bench rifle to a lightweight field rifle in WAYYYYY under a minute. Of course 'scope change and buttstock change will add to that time. I love the SG as a heavy bench rifle but I miss not having a field rimfire, having sold many traditional long guns and my favorite field rifle being one of those. But KIDD to the rescue. I planned for this with the SG. I have one of their ULW barrels on order. I placed the order last Thursday and KIDD got it out on Friday morning. It made it's way to the South Portland (Maine) distribution center on Sunday which is 90 miles away from the post office where it gets on the white truck to be delivered to me. It's less than a 90 minute drive. But with stops along the way at other post offices it can stretch to a few hours at most. I've watched the process many times with "tracking". My barrel has been stuck on a truck "In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late", since Sunday. It's now midday Wednesday. Yeah, no poop, "It's going to be late" ! Calling to spur USPS into action doesn't work. They don't care. Late delivery? They don't care. So I sit and wait for the package with no recourse. USPS SUX! 

I gave them delivery instructions to hold the package at the local post office 'cause our carrier has a habit of delivering just as fast as her gas foot can manage. That means delivery addresses are randomly chosen, speed is of the essence to her. So on a very local level delivery to the correct address isn't assured. But now this. The package isn't even brought to the local post office so that I can drive there to pick it up. Have I mentioned how much USPS SUX? UPS is OK but I had no choice in the matter.

Have I mentioned how much USPS sux? "Pay lots more get, much less" should be its motto.

Most of my horror stories are similar but less impact.  My daughter once mailed a package and paid for their "insurance".

Naturally, her package never arrived.

She inquired, and USPS told her that it was indeed delivered...but the address they gave was the wrong address.  

She filed a claim, and it was rejected by USPS because even though they delivered it to the wrong address, it was indeed delivered.  Typical government BS.  

USPS should be near the top of the list of federal boondoggles to eliminate completely.  What they do could be privatized and save billions.

Perhaps we should have a separate thread for USPS "issues".  Sorry for the hijack.

 

I've got nothing on order right now, but after seeing that stars & stripes rifle.......

So you've got a carrier who delivers to random addresses too. That the pits!

I agree about privatizing it. The Constitution says we have to have one. I don't think it stipulates what form it takes. (But I could be wrong)

Well, I remembered that there's a gent at the local PO who actually does care, he's the gent who tracks down randomly delivered packages, so I called him. He has tracking tools we don't have access to and told me that it's been going round and round the sorting center. Said he'd give them a call to fix the problem. 

So maybe I'll have the barrel in my hot little hands tomorrow. Not too bad; something that should have taken 3 days took a week.
